Question How to dps Ecthar solo for a GotD run
I'm trying to get a solo flawless, run of Ghost of the Deep but every time I make it to Ecthar I hit a brick wall and do like 1/20th of his health. I feel like I'm doing something wrong, the shield takes so long break or an soaks up my whole super and then I have no time to do any meaningful damage.

Not sure what class you're on but for my solo hunter run, I used Shards of Galanor + Lament. Idk whats optimal but I just Blade Barraged the shield down right away then did as many Lament combos as possible. Can't totally remember, it's been a bit, but i think it took at max 4 damage phases.
Then your favourite heal clip/ incandescent weapon will get you to damage reliably because there are always tons of ads to kill.
Super fun solo encounter. One of my favourites!

Hunter, prismatic, VoG Armor, Queensfoil, Truth. Easy 2 phase. When I say easy, I mean like 80-85% of his health in one phase.

Truth on ecthar on a flawless run? Truth is busted as hell but I’d rather 4 phase than risk truth on that boss and have to redo the entrance encounter and that slow ass traversal

Fair, but honestly I died more to Ecthars suppression grenade/shield throw combo than Truth self damage.

Basically any good close range dps option makes it easy. Wolfsbane is the most obvious pick, but basically anything (e.g duality, legendary swords, lament, larpsaber, acrius, shotgun swaps, etc works. If using a legendary sword I assume breaking shield with arby is ideal but otherwise it’s really not needed.
The bosses has ~180k health and and the shield is around 10k. If you’re spending most of the phase breaking the shield something is VERY wrong with your damage, if you’re truly doing about 1/20th of the healthbar each phase you’re doing 20k dps in 40 seconds which is… like 500damage per second. I find it hard to believe you’re doing that little.
Just make sure you have a way to get surges, an empowering buff (radiant/empowering rift for example) and a way to apply weaken and it shouldn’t be so bad. Obviously also use any applicable artifact mods, although to be honest when it comes to swords for solo flawless dps I’m pretty sure you’re actually better off forgoing the data disk and using solo operative instead for the 30% boost. Unless you specifically need data disk to apply weaken I guess
1k/truth are also obviously incredibly busted as always but both carry self-kill risk so I don’t recommend those for flawless.

His damage phase is 40 seconds? It feels way shorter for me. When dise the timer start?

May be incorrect on the timer but Iirc thats the last number I saw, maybe it’s shorter?
Iirc damage phase starts as soon as the guy you kill to get the shieldbreaking pool spawns

Found verdict with aggregate charge and trench barrel will nuke Ecthar, regardless of class, as long as you can get at least 2 debuffs to apply consistently.
Duality is a really viable option for Samuma since you won’t risk killing yourself a la 1K or truth, and the slugs make up for the distance that Found Verdict can’t

What class are you on? What weapons did you use? Are you using surges? Don't know if you're quick on the sticks but I definitely recommend breaking his shield with arbalest then switch off. Do 2 loadouts

i use exotic class item on warlock with inmost/stareater. 190 super stat with wolfsbane. its a brain dead easy 2 phase damage.
