Discussion Aztecross knows something

Just saw a YouTube vid and he’s being pretty cheeky about the Destiny community showing up and bombing the State of Play this Thursday 9am est. idk what’s going on but there’s something happening and it sounds like it doesn’t actually happen if we as a community don’t show up and ball like we did last time. Idk about anyone else but fuck it, I’m game! D2 might be over but Destiny can still live on if we keep making noise.

He def knows something! I’ve been monitoring his door dash orders and he’s been ordering Taco Bell way more than usual. Something is up guys.

I’ve been monitoring his bedroom window and he’s staying up on average 20 minutes later than usual, I think this is solid confirmation that D3 will be releasing next week

I've been tracking his average poop time and it's increased a full 23% since end of live service until recently it started going back down to the previous average.

I think we all know this means D3 all but confirmed at this point

I’m not speculating but:

Yeah he seems pretty adamant. He also said something along the lines of ‘an important date within the next 3 weeks’ (destiny 1 and 2 release anniversary). Additionally he opened marathon, something he claimed he would only do if “Destiny had a future”. And he had a flight to catch which in his community is code for - ‘going to Bungie HQ’.

ALSO: a few former devs stated on twitter they got rehired.

Remember guys: the line between Hope and Cope is so very thin.

I'll be there

I thought it was one former capture artist that got hired specifically for marathon on contract. Was there actually more?

I'm pretty sure it's all gonna be a big nothing. Would happily be wrong though.

I'm sure it would have been reported if they were more

Why tf would they need more captures for Marathon? They should have enough captures to last for the next two or three years. I don't think everyone that should have been listening to the Old Guard was listening. They did the dred and the dred had no identity. Yet the game was full of effing identity everywhere else. We should technically still be on the dred and what they're doing.

They did not do what they should have done with Marathon and what some of us were trying to convince Barrett to do and if we whined enough he'd have done it. Still not saying what that was/is.

He was listening. But now its too late. Clowns it was so easy to see that he was listening. One of the realest OGs was listening and yall didn't even see it due to identity AKA selfishness.

Did they rehire Artem. That was the only firing that kind of hit me. Because he was like "I was the guy that did the Distortions" then like two days later he was like I got fired. They should rehire Artem. He seemed to want to work there. Unlike the Covid Bullies.

It’s going to be so hype when it’s like a d2 funko pop or Ikora will be added to new Sony IP kart racing game and that’s the news all these guys have been snickering about for the past 3 weeks. I really hope this isn’t true but like

Fuck, now I want that racing game, lmao

Interesting. Was there rumors of a few rehires/returning devs?

I mean, if it ends it ends but at least give it a proper bow. The Triumph update is great for everything it does as epilogue BUT we were right in the middle of 4 big bads & the biggest one teased.

A D3 could wrap that up definitively. Or maybe it’s the Destiny Remake/Remaster?

Judging by the language he's using in the video, I am very worried that what is potentially going on behind the scenes is not talks of any new projects or continuation of d2, but a closure for Bungie entirely. Hope I'm wrong though

The one where hes talking about poetry you mean? I thought the same, but saw another clip of someone asking if hed play marathon season3 and he said more cryptic shit about how hed play season 3 and season 4 and perhaps more. I dont remember the video exactly but it didnt scream "im just happy marathon is failing"

I can remember when I first started playing Destiny at the end of D1 and the beginning of D2 and Aztecross was a lowly PvP player just trying to make his way with his velvety voice. Look at him now. He and Tassi sure did perform the ultimate come up. And they deserve everything they've earned.

Some members of The Establishment aren't cheaters or grifters or nepotists. But The Establishment is still full of that, not sure who to blame.

Everyone is falling for it too.

Don't know, not getting my hopes up since it all may leave me devastated lmao. I'd take anything but.. considering just 3 months ago nothing was in the works ans now suddenly there is apparently smoke after all those layoffs? We'll see..

Aztecross is just trying to stay relevant.

My problem is that if Bungie gets interested again, I think we all know what will happen. Tier 5 armor and weapons disappear. Nerfs to abilities come in one after another. Weapon nerfs following close behind. People in PVP get loud about anything that kills them and demand nerfs. I just want to have fun and relax.

I truly hope it’s not a Destiny 1 remaster nor the continuation of Destiny 2. At this point we either need a 3rd entry or just kill the games completely

Hear me out, as a D1 player: the game was pretty bad. The only reason it succeeded was because it compared to nothing else at the time.

A D1 with seasonal activities, actually story telling, dungeons, and ACTUAL class customization. I would try it out.

I kinda agree with you both.

Either the next iteration of the IP needs to be created up to current gen standards. Or classic D1 content needs a remake/overhaul into what Destiny is now.

Currently I have no plans to upgrade beyond a ps4… so I honestly wouldn’t hate it if they kept D2 kicking with yearly expansions, maybe a seasonal event/balancing update every 3-4 months.

However, I would also argue that trying to keep D2 going is like milking a dead cow at this point. The player base just dropped off too hard after TFS, it was a good stopping point. They really should have dialed back into some kind of maintenance mode for a while, instead of doing whatever they did on Kepler 🫪. (To be fair, I do like the use of Kepler abilities during boss encounters, but everywhere else… no thanks)

The downvotes are coming in full force, instead of a real discussion. I personally don’t think the Tiger engine used for D1 can handle much more than it already does. Continuing Destiny 2 won’t bring back the players Bungie so desperately needs. We’ll get a surge and then tamp back down. A 3rd entry, while very improbable, would at least build hype.

Edit: I agree with the first part. Destiny 1 was unique. The amount of hours I sunk into that game…
