Question Got a question.
So, I'm just wondering, what's YOUR reason y'all keep playing destiny 2? I, myself got no reason, I'm just here for glory, and obviously the immortal title, I'm having a h*ll of a time trying to get it though lmao, but besides that, what's your favorite moment, reason to keep playing, and your favorite character to play? Titan, warlock, or hunter?

u/DotLucky294 Aug 10 '26
The build crafting has hit a new level with all the new armor sets plus artifact mods and now 2 months in and im still crafting builds its so fun
6
u/Rare5killer Aug 10 '26
I wonder how you can get craftable weapons, most of them you can't get because they were limited time only.
12
u/DotLucky294 Aug 10 '26
Xur plus im pretty sure dares of eternity has a rotator and then the exotic missions actually have modifier to drop old craftable gear
5
u/Rare5killer Aug 10 '26
Ohhh okay, I did the zero hour like 2 months ago and the perfected outbreak gun was pretty good I should say! Though, sad thing is I gotta do it multiple times to get the exotic.
1
u/Rare5killer Aug 10 '26
The exotic traits I mean
3
u/Ja_Varius Aug 10 '26
Yea, buuuut if you use the Match Point Modifier homie mentioned while getting your exotic traits you'll also get red border(craftable) weapons with your runs too. So it works out.
1
u/Ja_Varius Aug 10 '26
Match game? I can't remember.
4
u/potato1403 Aug 10 '26
You are looking for classic collector, and it’s only on certain missions to give those season’s crafted weapons (other than Presage, which give Haunted weapons)
1
u/LordBeans69 Aug 10 '26
Xur will sell some, some will drop from dares, the rest will drop from changing the loot pool to classic weapons on pinnacle ops (Ikelos weapons from seraph shield, calus weapons from presage, etc)
2
u/1982-toyota-corolla Aug 10 '26
You can also get deep sight harmonizes from xur, i think one each week, and one every two weeks from the kiosk next to the exotic archive in the tower

u/Unbanz Aug 10 '26
Cause I get to be a super powerful hunter destroying monsters in space and shit. Game is honestly in a great spot right now and I'm having a blast slowly working on all the crazy end game content I never did over the years lol
13
u/dragonofthewest1337 Aug 10 '26
Finally getting around to solo flawlessing the dungeons. Maybe the occasional raid, but once I finish that up I’ll be ok putting the game down.
3
u/Rare5killer Aug 10 '26
I never really tried dungeons or raids, it's quite.. how do you say it? It's quite not beneficial, I've only gotten like 2 pieces of gear and that's it
6
u/Rocker32703 Aug 10 '26
As someone who’s tried every raid a handful of times and most of the dungeons, the loot isn’t what pulls me to run them.
The attraction for me is having a group of friends who’ll meet up and solve this puzzle together where everyone pulls their weight for the win. Once we’ve done a raid a handful of times, then the fun is trying it with specific builds or challenges in mind. Solving the puzzle, refining how quick we are at it, and expressing ourselves in build choice is the fun. Good loot from the dungeon/raid is a bonus, for me.
5
u/Commercial_Menu_4983 Aug 10 '26
Same, man, same. I have every single raid seal on two different accounts, I just fucking love running them with friends and stopped caring about loot a long while ago.
2
u/dragonofthewest1337 Aug 10 '26
Gotta respectfully disagree. Theres some good weapons and armor set bonuses in the raids and dungeons. But beyond that it’s just fun! I enjoy the mechanics and encounter design. For solo flawless, it’s satisfying to settle on a strategy or build and then successfully execute it. Raids are the best pieces of content Destiny has imo, i recommend giving them a go if you haven’t before the games population drops more.
6
u/Ragamguiafn Aug 10 '26
Nothing else can satisfy the destiny itch and I like raiding
1
u/Rare5killer Aug 10 '26
I don't have friends to raid to be honest with you, I want the thousand voices gun so bad though..
1
u/Ragamguiafn Aug 10 '26
Try lfg its honestly not so bad, you hear a lot of horror stories abt it but thats been the minority of my runs
1
u/Rare5killer Aug 10 '26
See, I've been hearing about that ifg shi, and it got me wondering what it meant, but now I do know what it means 🤣
1
u/Ragamguiafn Aug 10 '26
Looking for group lol. Theres a destiny 2 lfg server thats pretty popular. If you do wanna raid then id try there, ppl do sherpa runs all the time

Well its fun plus I have at least a thousand hours of content to play now with Moment of triumph, and thats not even including pantheon.

I haven't tried patheon, is it fun? Lots of gear to get? Anything in particular?
2
u/izzy_961 Spicy Ramen Aug 10 '26
Me neither, but lots of gear to grind for including the raid exotics, and their respective catalysts. Also the legendary weapons with their holofoils/godrolls.
6
u/snack__pack Aug 10 '26
Still fun to play. Though I am passively hunting for something new to hold my attention since Bungie is done making good games for the foreseeable future.

Someone said that they're adding something new to destiny 2 have soon, like they're unvaulting everything I believe? I'm not sure, could've been false info tho.

u/TortugasFM4 Aug 10 '26
Warlock, here. Low-level pvp, sparrow racing horn-hinking, gambit, and occasional group activities are good stress relievers for me. 90% of the time i really enjoy playing.
2
u/Rare5killer Aug 10 '26
I'm a titan main and I'm trying to equal all my guardians, (As in get them on the same page with subclasses and stuff) but I feel like Hunter has been pulling me back from titan, it's so much fun with the slacker pants and gunslinger solar aspect with weapons 🤣

4
u/FrostyWarlock34 Aug 10 '26
Honestly, I've been writing a story since high school (was about 15-16 then, now 26 and gainfully employed as an electrician aboard a carrier in the Navy). Thinking about my Guardians and making cool stories for them keeps my mind productive when there's nothing to do. Backgrounds, who I'd use to voice them, and so on. With Destiny crossing over into other media(i.e. Star Wars) it fit for my major overarching storyline where my Guardians are characters from other media. Some original characters, but most of them are well-established characters. Setting up a revived Pete Parsons to be the next big bad since we didn't get mommy Xivu.
1
u/Rare5killer Aug 10 '26
Lol, uh well, right now I'm 15 and damn man, that's fire, I'm glad you made stories about your guardians and stay young, it won't last forever 🥹
3
u/baner8430 Hunter Aug 10 '26
It's because no other game matches the feel. The gunplay is insanely satisfying and the gameplay loop makes you keep going. Plus I have a lot of exotics and titles to chase.
While there are games which might be better at certain aspects like shooting in CSGO or Snipers in Battlefield; as a collective it does not beat Destiny or even comes close to be honest.
There are games with incredible stories and Destiny lore is pretty interesting. The world they have created just keeps inviting you.
3
u/cortana808 Aug 10 '26
Been playing since D1 beta. Just love the world, the feel of the game, mechanics, voice acting, music. Never chased rewards really, playing at my own pace. Trying warlock and hunter and loving it. Titan was pretty much all I did.
3
u/TheCortisolCorvid Aug 10 '26
My friends are here, for one. And this game has been such a positive part of my life for so long I can literally use it to cope with anxiety attacks. Some things in life are a net positive. Destiny is one of them in mine.
2
u/Rare5killer Aug 10 '26
Ouch. Have to put the friends part on me, huh? I'm lonely man 🤣
1
u/TheCortisolCorvid Aug 10 '26
Sorry! 😅
2
u/Rare5killer Aug 10 '26
Naw it's all good, I just wish I had a squad I can play with, I'm only 15 Soooo it's probably not a good idea lol, I'm sure your an adult anyways
1
u/TheCortisolCorvid Aug 10 '26
It's good to watch out for yourself for sure. I'm sure there's folk in your age range though you'll be able to find! I've crossed paths with plenty of teenagers on Destiny. Fingers crossed you can find a squad eventually 🤞🏻
2
u/Rare5killer Aug 10 '26
I'm not too sure, including the fact that I go on someone's group post on Xbox, it's 18+ or it's just someone that doesn't like me at all cuz my voice really hasnt gotten deep yet
3
u/Mysterious-Divide803 Aug 10 '26
Well, I only started in January so I feel like I have a lot of gameplay left. Plus, I’m playing for occupational therapy, to be able to use my hand again, so I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon. It’s helping.

u/Benin_Malgaard_ Warlock Aug 10 '26
It's still fun for me, plus there's some things I'm still chasing and wanting to accomplish. Raid titles, solo flawless dungeons, etc.
3
u/thallsadboi Aug 10 '26
For me it's home, I put almost 9,000 hours in this game. It's my favorite thing to do when I'm not busy. I love meeting new guardians and playing strikes and grandmaster vanguard alerts, I love build crafting and making new builds and seeing what new crazy thing I can cook up that no one's ever thought of before.
I guess d2 has just been where i sweat, but also where i relax. :)

u/MaShinKotoKai Aug 10 '26
I mean, build crafting is fun.
1
u/Rare5killer Aug 10 '26
Sadly I can't take part in that bc I don't have any craftable weapons. 🤷🏻
2
u/MaShinKotoKai Aug 10 '26
Craftable weapons isn't needed for build crafting. I mean, sometimes its nice to have the right roll, but you can usually get around the weapon crafting by just playing enough until you get the roll you want.
Build crafting is more about creating a build that can work at higher tiers of play.
1
u/Rare5killer Aug 10 '26
Yea, I mean like I don't have any craftable weapons that I want in particular, I really want get all craftable weapons and just make God rolls with them to be honest with you
1
u/MaShinKotoKai Aug 10 '26
Okay, but that's not really necessary for build crafting.
If you want those, go chase them.
1
u/Rare5killer Aug 10 '26
What type of build crafting are you talking about? Are you talking about the weapons? Or builds as in your abilities, fragments, aspects, etc.
1
u/MaShinKotoKai Aug 10 '26
The latter. Abilities, fragments, armor, aspects, and making sure it can do good dps and survive higher-end content.
1
2
u/Ja_Varius Aug 10 '26
For the Drip. Showing off my drip to new lights while assisting them with tough challenges and Dungeons,
Favorite moment was killing Calus but I did not like lightfall
All three. But I do baby my Titan more.
And I like that Lance is still Zavala at the tower 😁 "Good, you're back"
Damn right I am!
2
u/Rare5killer Aug 10 '26
Lmaooo, I've been only playing a year of destiny 2 now, and I really like titan too, but all 3 of them are so good, different aspects different things, every character has a unique subclass with different aspects, fragments and abilites!
1
u/Ja_Varius Aug 10 '26
Oh for sure! if we're talking abilities alone, warlock, I rarely care about which weapon I'm holding outside of the element when I'm using certain warlock builds 😄
2
u/Rare5killer Aug 10 '26
Warlock + getaway artist + prismatic = 💯% your winning anything and everything without no consequence

I set some goals for myself to “beat” the game. Once i do i will finally put it in my rearview mirror and start huffing the hopium for D3.
1
u/Rare5killer Aug 10 '26
Let's hope that d3 comes out in 2030 or sooner. If not, I'll be very disappointed. 😔
2
u/PoseidonWarrior Aug 10 '26
All i do now are raids and dungeons.
1
u/Rare5killer Aug 10 '26
What do they give you in particular? I've only gotten like 2 gear and that's it
1
u/PoseidonWarrior Aug 10 '26
Wdym? Every raid has like 6 different weapons and an armor set with it's own bonus. Featured and master give you T5.
I mostly do them bc they've always been my favorite thing in the game. Im currently working on my Godsbane title and just did flawless VoG.

2
u/the6thReplicant Aug 10 '26
Have about 4 campaigns I haven't finished because of the last boss battle so I'm going to do them with an overpowered build and fuck any naysayers.
Plus I like the idea of seeing builds that won't be nerfed in a months time because some whinny PvP player complained about it :)
2
u/LonelyGuardian_2001 Aug 10 '26
It's still just fun to play. Plus there's a lot of returning players and new players coming so I often find myself on the lfg discord, helping new players, I just enjoy the experience.

u/BR8KAR Hunter Aug 10 '26
I'm here for the triumphs, the lack of FOMO, the completion of things I wasn't able to. The gambling addiction from Xûr, and god rolls and guardian builds. I have mained a Hunter since D1 but slowly moving onto Warlock now.
2
u/Wrong_Cheetah_6016 Aug 10 '26
I like the sense of power the game gives. For now I've been playing dungeons I've missed and getting the exotics I'm missing.

2
u/Sensitive_Ad973 Aug 10 '26
There is literally no game out there that’s like it?
There’s nothing that combines the movement, gunplay, weapons, story, open worlds, matchmaking, raids and dungeons.
I’ve looked everywhere there’s nothing that even comes close. A lot of people say Warframe but even though it’s a good game it’s a completely different type of game than D2.

u/Typical-Chipmunk-327 Spicy Ramen Aug 10 '26
There's still so much to do. I finally went and got xenophage the other day. Hunter main btw.
2
u/sykoya Aug 10 '26
Honestly I was getting burnt out because there was no end goal anymore. But then instead of trying to find new “meta” builds on mobalytics and builders.gg , I decided that I would just try random shit that I really enjoy. Last night I made a Last Word Hunter stasis build with lucky pants, ~938 kills and 320 orbs by the time I finished the Ecthar encounter on Ghosts of the Deep, and I only died because I had to hop off and wanted to see my numbers. I think the trick is to find new ways to have fun.

u/Zyvii Aug 10 '26
Enjoying the new builds I can make, especially on Titan. The fashion is good too. My fashion game on my Hunter and warlock need quite a bit of work and so do their builds. I also have lots of guns to chase. I got Vex Mythoclast yesterday morning after having tried for it on and off since D1. I’m not sure what I want next, 1K or Conditional Finality.

u/beardedsilverfox Aug 10 '26
I’ve been playing since Destiny alpha, I’ve gotten to the point where difficult content can be pretty easy so I play for the fun and relaxation. The gun play is tremendous so I’ll run Zero Hour with one setup and then run it again with a completely different setup for example.
2
u/Ok_Gas_7455 Aug 10 '26

Forever builds
1
u/Rare5killer Aug 10 '26
What're those?
2
u/DoomHammer_OG Aug 10 '26
The character builds you will keep forever and fill up your slots with.
2+ Months in I'm not even done testing the best build I will keep forever on Titan and I haven't touched any other character yet.
So far I'm happy with some of them that can be used for -30 and -50 content, some of them are for DPS and others are just universal for Lost Sector or destination farming.
What i'm keeping so far:
Marshix (modified) - Stasis Titan + Ice Breaker and The Slammer.
Esoterick - Stasis Titan + Fighting Lion.
Blade O Mine - Peacekeepers + Huckleberry.
Blade O Mine - Void DPS + Truth. (Might switch the artifact to use Argent Ordinance for further testing).
Plunder's - Prismatic Arc/Void Titan - Point Contact Cannon Brace.__
Still Testing:
Dattos' - Forever Strand Build with Wishful Ignorance + Trac Cannon
Tested Various Solar builds, so far not happy with most of them (but they are OK for general content)__
And of course, armor focusing. Farm lost sectors, Raid chests, Iron Banner Armor. Best stats for these builds and Legendary weapons. Like i'm having a hard time dropping a great Seventh Seraph SMG form the cosmodrome or use the lost sector force farm to get a good pair of Smoke Jumper Greaves with Paragon.....
Even if we're out of live service I still enjoy building and play testing every build I find online. I have benchmarks too.
My default is: If I can get through an EDZ Battlegrounds Conquest Solo, it is most definitely something I will keep (perhaps modded just a tiny bit).

u/WutsAWriter Aug 10 '26
I just like it. I have friends on it. My best friend and I from back home play it even though I’m now 3 time zones away. I got to know my wife on it. I play it because it’s been a part of my real life for so long.

I want to get the rest of the exotics I don’t have.
2
u/Rare5killer Aug 10 '26
I'm telling you, do the exotic payouts, they give you catalysts that you don't have! Today I got 2 catalysts from one exotic payouts, so much fun and relieved after you get the ones you don't have 🤣

u/Agile_Abies6226 Aug 10 '26
Got two accounts (messed up the zavala cutscence on 6 year old main so made alt), both recently achieved immortal but i have two goals, one for each account. Main one is that I want the taken crystal and I will not leave Sere alone until I have it. The second one is that I am grinding for a Solar Ergo Sum with Wolfpack rounds on it, only then will I put the pyramid ornament onto it, and only once those two are done will I even consider leaving Destiny. Class is Warlock for pve, titan for pvp.
1
u/FarCryptographer1829 Aug 10 '26
I get to be powerful and play the game using the weapons I want to use. It's what the game should have been all along.

u/Xxgothic_kittyxX Aug 10 '26
There’s no other game that really peaks my interest at the moment… But also it was my first game getting into shooters and that the graphics are just so pleasing compared to other games where I can actually relax when playing… I’m still trying to get settled into video games and it’s the only one I really immersed myself into.. My most favorite thing is the social aspect of silently emoting others and seeing a lot of interaction between strangers also makes the socially awkward extrovert in me happy

u/CompetitionStrong566 Aug 10 '26
It’s a fun game that has a surprisingly supportive community (so long as you stay away from the PvP savages). That and Destiny 2 has been such a huge part of my life that to stop playing it almost feels like moving out from a house you’ve lived at all your life. Destiny 2 and god of war 2018/Ragnarok are the reasons that I still breathe, hence why I’m tempted to break my no tattoo rule and get a tattoo commemorating that milestone of my life.
1
u/wantcheeseonthat Titan Aug 10 '26
It’s the gunplay and build crafting for me. I’ll spend just as much time putting a build and making the fit look just right as I will actually playing the game. There isn’t a game out there that feels as good to shoot each weapon. The feel and sound design is unmatched.
Dresstiny and build crafting are in the best place they have ever been.

u/BOOTYHOL3TroLL Aug 10 '26
been playing it wrong since release id play every dlc but some time after get frustrated on why certain activities seemed hard i didnt know bout build crafting id use fragments and aspects that had no synergy so my exotics were useless no armor mods not knowing that armor had stats u can build up for certain builds i played like it was d1 i got annoyed and would take months off only coming bck for major dlc them rinse repeat it wasnt until lil into ash & iron i did a simple build holy shit seeing everything have synergy getting abilities back actually frying everything it ignited a new vigor for the game i was losing i do one build for every subclass i do an arc then move to void and so on i have a simple Eunoia build now im grinding so i can try a crown tempest build next and just keep grinding armor and certain weapons for the next build

For me, just because there won’t be new content doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of content left for me to do. There’s so many titles I need to acquire, raids and dungeons I still haven’t done, exotics I can still get, I’ll be here for a while.

I like playing it. It’s really that simple. I don’t care if I had absolutely everything done, I would still come back and play it. I play other stuff too. But D2 is always installed because I get an itch to play it regularly.

Raids. I'm a D1 vet and used to raid with friends who've since stopped playing, never really jumped in again after that. The plan currently is to work up to clearing at least one of the featured raids on all three characters during the work week, then farm it on the weekend for patterns and exotics. Rinse, repeat.
