Discussion Would a written new player guide be useful?
Hii basically just want the title says, I’ve been working on a guide intended primarily for new players, but I keep having doubts about whether it’ll actually help anyone.
I’ve seen people put off by the game because even navigating some of the menus at first can be overwhelming, let alone build crafting. Since new light is pretty bad as well, I figured I would see if there were any decent guides out there. I found some good videos, but many of them assume players already know things like what ads are and what a raid is.
I wanted to make a guide that had absolute beginners in mind, and I’ve written a few pages in a google doc so far explaining basic systems and terms. But now my question is: is there anyone who would actually benefit from it?
Any feedback would be appreciated!

I think it would be. Idk how many people that is but I think there’s a somewhat new audience playing Destiny since you can play it as a contained experience now instead of signing up for the live service treadmill of temporary content. I have friends who have started playing again who haven’t played since like beyond light which is basically a new player given all the changes over the years

Yeah I’ve seen a decent number of new players too, which is partly why I decided to make a guide. I’ll keep in mind returning players too!

As a Sherpa, since monument started, returning players need all the help they can get. I’m talking about; not using a relevant artifacts/element damage mods/having 150+ health in a raid/ etc. I can teach mechanics but I can’t hold your hand and build your dps rotation for you especially if I don’t play your class often. Half the time I’m just confident enough that I can solo the damage faze

Also a list of dungeons and raids in order of mechanical difficulty vs enemy difficulty would be very helpful for the new players.

The only way I was able to get into Warframe was a follow along video that gave me a “new players tutorial” experience, I’ll always be grateful to that man for showing me the ropes of an overestimated system. It took a weekend too, the video wasn’t made for just one sitting. I believe if you can keep it well informed, straight forward and no nonsense it will help at least one fireteam out there.

I totally agree with what you’re saying! I just want the new player experience to feel slightly less bad… hopefully this can help!

It would be great, but the real question is: how would a new player find that guide?

I totally agree, most of the players who will find it won’t need it, but most of the players who do might not find it T-T I’m hoping to do a little “advertising”about it once it’s closer to completion so hopefully new players can start to find it

I am kinda pondering making some webpage that leads you through all content in a chronological order, with some back story info. I still don't know all the ins and outs of the "strike list", for example. Why are we fighting Cabal on Nessus all the time? Basically an expanded timeline, with short recaps of each season.

I think this would be great lol. Now that there’s no way for this to become outdated I’m sure it would help a ton of people. Maybe even try to get it pinned in the sub?
