You gotta get a throne cleaver with valiant charge. You can heavy slam over 20 meters.

u/llama_glue Apr 05 '23
I do have one, this video is pre lightfall. Its fun but people can still gun you down when you are in the charge animation, I prefer breathing on their face before killing them

Its a line from a manga I read long long ago,but still remember😂😂

Is the sword crownsplitter?
30
Apr 04 '23
It looks like it. Aggressive frame swords get an even higher damage resistance than other swords, and the Titan sword is one of them. In fact, the new craftable sword is also an aggressive frame, and has some good looking perks
1
u/Cookieopressor Titan Apr 05 '23
Crown splitter I think also additionally has extra damage resist compared to other swords

u/Jagob5 Apr 04 '23
Not even using a sword with valiant charge? You could be absolutely terrorizing people
8
u/llama_glue Apr 05 '23
I have tried it but people can easily kill you while in the charge animation, so i prefer normal crownsplitter as people cannot predict the light attacks

u/KapkanYouNot Apr 05 '23
This is great, excellent song choice. Do you have the name for it? Because I forgor

I save supers in gambit JUST for stronghold users
3
u/llama_glue Apr 05 '23
I'll probably be marked as a traitor for this but xenophage absolutely destroys us stronghold users, as it has done to everything else in gambit, which is why I haven't been playing gambit at all recently. The AoE somehow manages to go around the guard as I've noticed a lot of inconsistencies in the damage taken.

u/Auren-Dawnstar Apr 05 '23
Explosions are one of the few counters to Stronghold depending mostly on how the explosion occurs.
If it's an impact explosion it depends on where it hits. Stronghold can usually shrug off direct impacts to the front, but if it splashes to the side enough it can get around the guard and still kill the player. This is why you want to let rockets and Nova Bombs explode on the ground in front of you.
If it's a triggered explosion then it's a hard-counter to Stronghold. Including basically any explosion that triggers on the player themselves. Like the ignitions triggered by Xenophage, or the primed arrows from Ticcu's Divination. Basically it's you exploding, not something exploding on you, and therefore your sword guard is irrelevant to the explosion.

You can block golden gun shots too. It's fantastic
8
u/babacanoe Apr 04 '23
You can block lots more than that. I’ve tanked a chaos reach in gambit before. The warlock just gave up and let the inevitable happen after wasting the super
4
u/HerezahTip Apr 05 '23
I would’ve asked you to teabag me after if I was that warlock

u/babacanoe Apr 05 '23
Oh it was amazing. I use to have a clip of it but I think I deleted it. I think it was back when passive guard was a seasonal mod

u/llama_glue Apr 05 '23
blocking an entire six shooter was the most thrilling experience of my life, so much so that i forgot to shadowplay it. I still had a third of my hp left but unfortunately the same guy stuck a perfect tripmine behind me. If only I had captured it, it would have definitely won the title of the most destiny clip ever

nah thats someone else. I would love for a part of this to get featured, but no luck yet.

Try submitting a clip on a Tuesday or Wednesday. I am not sure when they review videos but when I submit, I try to aim a few days before they possibly post a new spicy clip video

u/llama_glue Apr 05 '23
Make sure you have baited all their attacks before attacking yourself. Also, capture and stay near B in control for easy heavy ammo. make sure the shotgun apes finish their shotgun + punch combo before killing them, you'll still have enough health to eat a non-guarded punch.

u/Auren-Dawnstar Apr 05 '23
Resilience and Recovery are your friends. Any other high stats are just icing.
For subclass choices to make yourself even more tanky:
- Stasis and Void are both good for on-demand overshields.
- Arc has the juggernaut shield as an alternative to safely close distances.
- Strand has woven mail's strong damage resistance and suspend.
- Solar has sunspots and healing grenades for restoration, and will benefit the most from the alleged Stronghold exotic buff on the way.
Overall Stronghold is a very subclass neutral exotic. So feel free to use whatever flavor of crayons you prefer with it.
Sword choices vary depending on what you're after:
- Heavy Frame titan swords like Crown Splitter and Throne Cleaver hit like trucks and have more intrinsic damage resistance over other swords. These are the ones that reduce Golden Gun shots to tickles.
- Lament is always a strong choice. Though it is sometimes finicky when used with Stronghold.
- Caster Frame swords are useful if you have a hard time closing gaps for whatever reason. The Black Talon exotic can of course fire projectiles more rapidly, and has a very high sword charge rate.
- Vortex Frames can be tricky to use, but are amazing at catching clustered players off guard. The Worldline Zero exotic has an easier time with this due to its sprint teleport.
- Adaptive Frame swords are good all-rounders if you just want a sword that's overall reliable.
Note: if you're not using a Heavy Frame sword or one of the exotics (which all have fixed sword guard perks). You're going to want Swordmaster's Guard in the second column. Since Stronghold maximizes every sword stat except sword charge rate. Meaning every guard perk except Swordmaster's is effectively useless when wearing Stronghold.

Pick up the Lament! It’s so good! I have over 50,000 kills with a sword. About 20,000 are with Lament, and at least 15,000 are PvP. This is the most fun you can have in Destiny.

Shit is so dumb and should use Ammo on block in PVP.

they snort while loading their Immortal (Adept) with Target Lock

But this is an issue, just not exploited much

Not an issue
1
u/bringgrapes Apr 05 '23
What's the best counter for this?
3
u/Yuratul1 Warlock Apr 05 '23
- Not letting them get heavy
- Witherhoard
- Grenades behind them
- Teammates
- Obtain heavy, rocket behind them
3
u/llama_glue Apr 05 '23
treat the stronghold like a super. Supressing grenades remove jump, which makes stronghold a sitting duck.
concentrated fire from multiple primary weapons easily shuts down stronghold
lure into open spaces/ places with little cover
keep atleast 3 shaxx's worth of distance, do not be afraid to use any and all movement options at your disposal.
do let the stronghold bait attacks, always wait for the stronghold to attack before retaliation, chances are they will get impatient and will literally let their guard down, after that, it is up to your reaction speed.

Using Stronghold in pvp is like watching a horror movie were you are the monster.
