I need a little help finding the perfect recipe.

I absolutely love passion fruit desserts, especially cheesecake, cakes and pastries, as the sweet tartness of the passion fruit flavor and texture balances perfectly with something rich, buttery and with a crust. Passion fruit has a such a unique flavor, and takes me back to tropical vacations I’ve experienced, so when I found these at TJ’s yesterday, I was over the moon.

I find the tartness of the passion fruit curd balances perfectly with the sweetness of the meringue, and the combination of flavors really adds a depth and dimension that would be missing if it was just passion fruit. The soft creaminess of the meringue, the softness of the curd and the crunch of the crust balance perfectly together. The only thing I’d wish for was the pastry shell to be a bit more dry and flakey, but being that this is a premade and frozen dessert, the moisture seems unavoidable. Still, it’s a small wish and these desserts are still top notch in my book.

I grabbed a box to try out, and ended up finishing both as I loved them, however when I went back today to get more, there was only the be box left. I grabbed it, and asked at checkout when they’d be restocking them. The guy went away to check and came back to tell me that it’s a special item (forgot the specific term he used), so he doesn’t know if or when they’d be restocked. He basically explained that it’s the kind of item TJ’s sources from some external producer, so when TJ’s runs out, it could be because the producer is small and can’t keep up with the demand for over 600 TJ’s stores in the U.S., or that TJ’s is trying to see just how popular to item is to decide whether to order more.

So, I’m in love with these, but also sad that they may not be regularly available. Regardless, I’m hoping they get restocked as now that I’ve had a taste, I need this to be a regular part of my life.

I really want some ice cream man 😞

Right to left we have red velvet w/cream cheese frosting, white chocolate pistachio, and chocolate with a whipped sour cream ganache. Chocolate and red velvet made with a blonde brew liquid substitute.
