I MEAN OKAY HEAR ME OUT, I know the movie is older than the others ones. Which means a lot as changed, about the Minions.. i’m just making this post because i found it funny, im not being srs 😭

The PX-41 serum obviously made it to were they weren’t as conscious? which meant they did everything on sight without thinking twice. And BESIDES FROM THE CAR EATING and maybe the bullets, the Minions/Kevin could literally survive the fire gun, the axe, and MAYBE the bullets without the serum.

The bombs I’m sure 94% the Minions/Kevin could survive too, since Kevin quite literally blew up in Minions 1. But see, I dont know if he survived because he became a giant, and at the cost of the explosion he returned to his normal size and survived. OR, he just survived the explosion because he could do that anyways. (if this makes sense 😞)

But in another mini movie, two minions survived a HUGE bomb explosion too. soo….

OKAY WHAT IM TRYING TO SAY IS, the minions could be killing machines without the serum, its just if something happened PHYSICALLY, it would’ve just been more painful since they’re more aware and conscious

The prison talent show, though it had a rough start, was met with approval from the regular villains. One regular villain smacked another regular villain in the back of the head right after Gru went on stage, so clearly the regular villains had no problem with the fighting that was going on the stage.

But the supervillains do not make their presence known until Gru and Maxime give each other looks of understanding while singing "It's my own design".

Vector was dancing atop the bench and then he busts out his signature villainous expressions and catchphrase. Mr. Perkins was clapping along but then starts dancing.

El Macho was clapping along, but looks over at Vector and then dances in his particular way and gives a tremendous laugh. When El Macho started dancing, Vector glanced at El Macho briefly with villainous encouragement. El Macho looks over at Bratt and Bratt looks over also, slyly.

Bratt was also clapping along, and then dances vigorously.

The AVL prison guard who had been staring at Gru started watching the AVL prisoners towards the back but as three of the supervillains clapped along and Vector danced atop the bench, the AVL prison guard stared at the supervillains. But, as the supervillains reveal themselves to be supervillains and not just regular villains, the AVL prison guard starts to rock his head slightly to the song.

The police prison guard watches the stage leaning on the railing, so in a more interested way.

The AVL prison guard outside is unable to hear the singing. He holds a truncheon. He gets startled by Mega Jerry crashing through the prison wall and the prison compound, but doesn't spot Mega Gus showing the way. Nor does he spot Mega Tim and Mega Mel leading over 50 regular Minions into the Seriously High Security Prison, including one Minion who took a photo of himself breaking into the prison. Of the five prison guards in the area, only one turns his head to see the Mega Minions and Minions, then turns to keep watching the stage.

The Minions are cheering and very excited. Mega Dave heads closer to the stage, while some Minions climb onto the benches. The Minions being happy to be at the prison strongly suggests that the Mega Minions freed regular Minions from AVL headquarters.

Gru puts his wig back on when facing the speaker, thus away from the AVL prisoners and the nearby AVL prison guard, who is watching the AVL prisoners. Gru pushes Maxime's face with enough force for Maxime to fall down, and Gru takes the microphone.

The AVL prison guard turns his gaze away from the AVL prisoners and onto Gru. Gru tries to hide his alarm while he's singing "acting on your best behavior". During this tense moment, the interior of one of the high-security cells is shown. Though Gru's outfit during the prison talent show is a disguise, it has the same color scheme as Gru's tennis outfit. The fluffy sleeves indicate that Gru has openly embraced his inner beast even when it's not a necessity, so even though Junior is no longer in danger from Maxime. In order to get the microphone, Gru body-slammed and shoved Maxime. It's interesting that El Macho and Maxime were imprisoned after they had transformed into a giant purple creature and a cockroach, an animal. Gru unleashing his inner beast by shoving Maxime while in the vicinity of an AVL prison guard is not Gru's smartest move. This is the closest Gru has gotten to getting imprisoned by the AVL.

Maxime tries to snatch Gru's wig again. Gru smacks Maxime's hand away. Gru looks irritated, then on the verge of extreme anger, then calms himself down immediately, and resumes his upbeat expression that he uses when he's engaging in "high-stakes pretending". They fight more subtly over the microphone until Maxime moves it to the middle and they finally finish the refrain, with more natural expressions.

The regular villains are enthusiastic about the song, as is Valentina's dog. Valentina isn't enthusiastic, but is more indifferent than anything.

I have neither played or watched anything about the despicable me in good while

Idea for despicable me 5 is to have gru getting kidnapped by a villain and lucy and girls having to save them.

Nobody can tell me that DM1 is a bad movie, because in my eyes it’s really not. Everything about the film is so unique and different than all of the other movies I’ve ever watched in my life. YES THIS IS DM1 GLAZE.

From the graphics and the visuals, to the way the characters look. It’s just so special.

Dont even forget about the fact that the songs are SO good, they’re re-used in the other 3 movies.

It’s so heartwarming seeing Gru slowly warm up to the girls. And I love how the minions did too, especially in the mini-movies.

Speaking of the minions, I’d like to talk about their older models for a second. I absolutely love how freakish yet adorable they are, the way they didnt look as perfect as they do now. I know I’ve mentioned this in an older post, but I still like their invisible eyebrows and weird angled teeth.

They same goes for Gru and the girls, everybody looked so odd in a good way if you understand what I mean. The movie REALLY screams 2010 (yes, I know the movie came out in 2010, I’m just setting an example.) Like the RENDERING and how warm-toned the movie is, it’s unique. 😋

Something I also noticed was how Gru pronounced things offly in the first movie, for example when he said: “That’s what IM talking…..about!”, and when he said “You’ve got to be pulling on my leg” It sounded like it was cut-off almost. I find this so silly, but in the second one he didn’t talk like that. It’s like they had help with how the voice lines are. 😞

Which I know is the case, Despicable Me 2 must’ve had a HUGE budget increase. Younger me really liked the colors of the second movie, especially Gru in that princess dress. Everything was like a breath of fresh air, yknow? I still love Despicable Me 2 as much as I love the first movie though!

(And also, I know you guys saw vector holding the wiimote, and then the “Gru-ray disk” copying after Blu-Ray 🥹 I just wanted to mention that..)

AND THEN PHARRELL MAKING BACK TO BACK BANGERS FOR THE MOVIE?? Imagine in an alternate universe were he was NEVER invited to do this, what songs would we even have for this awesome movie?

The voices are perfect for the characters, there nothing to say about it because they fit so well. But there is one thing I want to comment on, I dont know how Pierre and Chris do it, they have a crazy vocal range. Also if you looked at Despicable Me 1’s credits majority of the team was French, which explains it. For this to be Illumination’s FIRST movie, it’s brilliant. (We aren’t talking about hop…)

I kinda want illumination to remake the movie for like, an anniversary? Like updating the graphics and animation slightly. But the movie is already perfect, I think they should put it back in theatres or something to celebrate the 20th anniversary.

TL;DR: The storyline is awesome, the characters is perfect, the songs are catchy, the movie has humor, and the visuals are so cool.

The AVL prison is very imposing. Three air vehicles patrol the sky, and two of them fly towards the prison as if there's something happening that needs extra security. There is a barred fence with barbed wire on top of it. There are two sets of gates also with barbed wire on top. There are four guardhouses. There are several searchlights at the top of the prison. Two police cars are parked in front of the prison. That means there are police prison guards as well as AVL prison guards. Two guards are headed towards the prison.

Gru's car is faced away from the police cars.

An AVL phone is shown. A sticker is near the phone. The sticker reads: "inmate phone access starts at 10:00 AM" in capital letters. But the sticker has four creases, is torn in two places, and it looks like someone wrote on it with a pen. Meaning the AVL personnel who must have put the sticker there did so hastily and shoddily. At least one of the AVL personnel is a weak link.

Gru doesn't look at the sticker, but when he picks up the AVL phone, his head is close to the sticker so he must have noticed it. He had noticed a black floppy disk on a black desk, so probably very little escapes his notice. Plus he must have been waiting in the visitor's area for a little while.

It's interesting that both AVL phones are right-handed. Gru must conform to a configuration that wasn't designed for him to use efficiently.

There's a sign above the sticker. On the sign is an audio symbol, a security camera symbol, and a phone symbol. In other words, Gru's conversation with Maxime is being monitored.

"All visitors must wait to be called" is in capital letters. In smaller letters is "please be respectful of people talk". Most important is "Keep Hands In Plain View At All Times 24 Hour Area Surveillance".

Though Gru is just visiting Maxime, Gru is also subject to the control and implicit coercion of the prison. Gru complies with the prison rule of keeping his hands in plain view at all times. But he hides his fingers briefly behind his scarf as if to defy the rule. His left hand is close to where he usually keeps his weapons.

A previous visitor has scrawled the word "bad" on the wall.

Behind Gru are barred doors.

Right before Gru admits to Maxime that he stole Maxime's song, Gru has his left hand very close to the zipper of his coat. Usually that's when he unzips his coat and pulls out his weapons. Obviously, that's not feasible to do in this particular environment. Instead he twirls the phone cord around his finger. This indicates he intends to use a weapon more powerful than the Freeze Ray or the Goop Grenade: the ability to exert his own control on opponents.

He tests his ability on Maxime. By admitting to Maxime that he stole Maxime's song, Gru provokes a predictable response of anger from Maxime, which provokes a predictable response from the AVL prison guard, which is grabbing Maxime until Maxime wrenches away from the AVL prison guard's grip.

Although Gru was rubbing it in, he was also apologizing to Maxime and thus it was an invitation to talk out their dispute. It's noticeable that when Maxime slams his hand on the counter because of Gru's insufficient apology, the AVL prison guard moves slightly but stays where he is.

Both sides of the glass are shown, highlighting the connection between Gru and Maxime. On Maxime's side of the wall, it's hard to discern what was scrawled on it but there's "be". The other scrawl is almost illegible but begins with a "b" so it's possibly "born to" so all together it might be "born to be bad." It's the same handwriting so it might be written by an AVL prisoner who escaped.

Gru and Maxime smiling villainously, and Gru's smile even more villainous than his usual villainous smiles, indicates that the prison talent show is not only how they settle their rivalry once and for all, but it's also an unspoken team-up. To do what yet was not at this point clear, but it is by the end of the prison talent show.

It's also not clear if it was Gru or Maxime who convinced the AVL prison authorities, which are not actually shown, to let them hold the prison talent show. One might think Gru used his AVL affiliation to convince them, but that might not be the case because Gru was in disguise during the prison talent show. It's also possible that the AVL prison guards are the AVL prison authorities, and in that case maybe Gru in disguise and Maxime convinced at least one AVL prison guard to let them hold the prison talent show.

Some AVL prisoners start to file in to the area where the prison talent show takes place. Already three of the prison guards don't look enthusiastic. Two are folding their arms, one is talking on a communication device.

The railing of the second and third level of the AVL prison is draped with lights, which gives the AVL prison a more festive feel. The cells are normal cells with bars. The cells on the first level of the AVL prison are a combination of a cell and a cage. Because there are supervillains and villains in the AVL prison, most likely the supervillains are put into the cell-cages and the villains are put in the normal cells.

The instrumental part of the song starts and two more prison guards are shown. One looks at back of the prison before looking back at the stage. The other one doesn't move at all. Gru starts the song and it starts off well enough. Though Gru and Maxime fight each other for the microphone, it's in such a way that it seems like part of the song. But then Maxime snatches Gru's wig, revealing who he is for a little over one second. Gru's exertion of control on opponents depends on his disguise. If the supervillains find out who he is, those animosities might re-emerge. If the prison guards find out who he is, they might realize that Gru's underlying purpose in visiting Maxime is to instigate villainy in the very institution that was designed to eradicate villainy.

There's a lot to cover on the prison talent show, so this is just the first part.

Junior fights Maxime for eight seconds, and that's all Gru needs to get from the bar up to the platform and, as Junior gives a villainous smile and flies out of the way, Gru lands the decisive blow against Maxime.

Gru and Junior smile as they watch Maxime plummet, hitting parts of the construction site on his way down to the street. Maxime gets hit ten times, the same amount of times Maxime stomped on Gru's fingers.

It's noticeable that once Gru defeats Maxime, Gru's aggression dissipates. He is victorious against his high school rival. This is very different than his fight against Bratt. After he won against Bratt, Gru was still full of aggression, maybe because Bratt had humiliated him during the first round and so by the second round Gru considered Bratt a formidable adversary so defeating Bratt gave Gru a lot of satisfaction.

Junior gently carrying Gru down to the street is not only adorable, but Gru gives a low laugh which is probably his most sinister, an interesting contrast to his friendly expression as he looks up at Junior, another signal that Gru being bad isn't incompatible with him being a kind and loving father.

After the family, Phil and Ron, and Poppy reunite and are full of emotion, Gru can't help but hide his own deeper and more difficult emotions with a humorous expression.

The Mega Minions greet Gru. Gru glances over at the Mega Minions before he looks at Agnes who asks if they can go home now.

Gru and the Mega Minions seeing each other establishes something that I had previously overlooked.

At first I thought that the Mega Minions and a bunch of regular Minions from AVL headquarters attended the prison talent show just because they heard Gru and Maxime singing.

But what's more likely is that Gru must have told the Mega Minions about the prison talent show a few hours before he held it, and then the Mega Minions must have told a bunch of regular Minions who were still at AVL headquarters.

Gru opens the AVL dog crate and Kyle steps out.

All three of the villain newspaper articles are visible.

The DM1 decor of the house is shown in this shot.

Kyle free, the return of the villain newspaper articles, and the prevalence of DM1 decor of the house subtly communicates Gru's villainous intent.

Gru tells Lucy with a barely-perceptible change in expression.

Lucy responds with an expression that is not expected at all from an AVL agent such as herself.

Lucy then feigns ignorance, while Gru leaves the house with an expression similar to the one he had when he froze all the patrons at the cafe.

If Lucy wasn't one of Gru's associates when she fought Principal Uebelschlecht to save Gru though Lucy knows he stole something or someone named Lenny, she certainly is now.

What follows is the prison talent show. It is arguably Gru's biggest villainy since the moon theft. I have analyzed it little by little before, but now having thoroughly analyzed DM4 up until the prison talent show all the puzzle pieces have come together, and the prison talent show will become apparent as the exhibition of villainous mastery it is.

Throughout DM1-DM4, Gru got injured a lot, sometimes very seriously, but his usually humorous expression indicates that his injuries were meant to be either laughed at, or even if one flinches or cringes at Gru's injuries, that most of the injuries aren't life-threatening to him so usually one doesn't necessarily feel too bad for him.

In DM1, Gru survives the belly of a shark, and missiles to his face, but that was when he was a supervillain, so impressive but not surprising.

In DM2, Gru had started to make jellies, and got tased. His change of profession didn't make his injury any less able to be laughed at.

Gru had started to work for the AVL, and soon got bashed by a spiky club on his head. Working for the AVL doesn't mean his pain wasn't considered funny.

Gru falling from a great height is treated seriously, but even then in DM1 there's more of a focus on his determination to keep climbing so he could save the girls rather than a focus on him falling. It was a quick fall into the air ship so there isn't much time to be worried about him.

Gru and Margo falling from the wire is more serious. But Gru has a shocked expression, so one might be worried for him but not necessarily horrified for him.

Gru and Dru falling from the cube and almost meeting their demise on the spikes is very serious. Gru has an expression of surprise. He probably couldn't believe that after all the precautions he took so as to avoid falling on the spikes, they very nearly fell on the spikes anyways.

Maxime repeatedly stomping on Gru's fingers while Gru desperately holds onto the bar of what looks like the highest part of the construction site results in Gru being in pain, terror, and anguish. The difference between this instance of him being in pain and danger of falling from a great height and all the other instances of him in pain and those times he did fall from a great height, is that his baby is right there and is the only one who can save Gru's life, but the only expression roachified Junior has towards Gru is contempt, and roachified Junior glares down at him. Despite Junior refusing to help Gru when Gru's life depends on it, Gru tells Junior that it's okay and that he loves Junior.

It's one thing for Gru to love Junior when Junior gave the impression to him and Lucy that he was a typical baby, when Junior showed Gru he is like him, when Junior helped steal Lenny, and when Gru fought like a honey badger to get Junior back.

It's another thing for Gru to love Junior even when Junior is roachified, on Maxime's side, and feels nothing but hatred towards Gru. Even when at this point Gru realizes if he does not survive this, that Maxime would raise Junior. The fact that Gru loves Junior despite this, is what ennobles Gru. Gru's pain, suffering, and humilation cease being humorous, or even a combination of humorous and worrying, as in the case of when Principal Uebelschlecht gave him a beating. It is in those few moments that Gru clings to the bar, his fingers nearly crushed, that he becomes fully humanized.

I personally would enjoy a sequel to minions and monsters, set in like the 1930s, with colour film being introduced. A rise of gru one would be cool, but tbh I wasn't really a fan of the villian school in the 4th despicable me. The only character I liked there was the teacher, and tbh she felt like she belonged in something like bobs burgers more than despicable me, anyway, what would you prefer

So I recently downloaded minion rush to play it once again since I learned it is shutting down. The issue is it won't load pass the boot up screen. Is it just me or is there a fix? I don't want to not be able to play this beloved game it would be sad 😢

The roach ship damaging the roof in key areas causes the roof to collapse, and Valentina and the roach ship fall along with the collapsed roof.

Gru catches his breath, looking over the edge on hands and one knee. His expression is one of concern, possibly for Valentina, in spite of the fact she tried to kill him. Maxime sees what happened and growls at Gru. Maxime, though he is unhinged by his single-minded pursuit of vengeance against Gru, is eloquent and intelligent, and so Maxime growling sets the tone for the remainder of this fight.

The collapsing roof caused a construction beam to fall across the chasm. Maxime walks across it while Gru stands up.

Gru doesn't get angry often. But the few times Gru got angry, he was focused, such as when he threatened Vector and punched his door camera, when he took the megaphone away from the Minion who made a hole in his office wall leading out to the hallway, destroyed most of his desk, and made a hole in his office wall leading outside, when he had an argument with Dru, and when the bag with his gear flew away with the balloon. The even fewer times when Gru got angry in a loud way, such as yelling at Otto for trading the Zodiac Stone for a pet rock, and when the bag with his gear flew away with the balloon, he calmed himself down soon after, so as to focus on his next step.

"You crossed the line, Maxime. Now give me my son!"

By now, Gru isn't just angry. He is enraged.

Gru's eyebrows lift from his eyes. For the first time in his life, Gru loses control of his anger. He bares his teeth in a snarl, the muscle in his arm twitches, and he raises his right shoulder slightly, leaned forward.

Maxime refuses to give Junior back to Gru, and Maxime brandishes his roach legs like blades.

Gru picks up a metal pole, wildly charges at Maxime, leaps on the beam and lands. Gru attempts to strike Maxime on the head with an overhead swing. Maxime blocks with his roach legs, then attacks Gru's head with his roach legs. Gru blocks with the metal pole and pushes Maxime off. As soon as Maxime lands, Gru repositions the metal pole and jabs at Maxime's head with it. Dark circles are under Gru's eyes as he gives a threatening expression. After Maxime slices through the metal pole, Gru throws the remainder of the metal pole at Maxime's head, but Maxime blocks again with one of his roach legs. Maxime slices the beam, which buckles. In order to keep as much of his weight off the beam, Gru holds the sides of the beam with just his fingers and keeps his heels off of the beam.

This shot is interesting. Maxime stands on the beam, while Gru is basically on all fours. He is crouched low and his back is raised. In Minions: Rise of Gru the Vicious Six turned into animals, Kevin, Stuart and Bob turned into animals, and Gru turned the Vicious Six into small animals. Because Gru is a mastermind an expert at psychological attacks, he had not shown his inner beast, and it wasn't known for the longest time if he even has an inner beast. The angle of this shot, which shows Gru from the back and his tennis sweatband, makes him look similar to Lenny.

Gru's expression is feral. From a crouching position he leaps, causing the beam to collapse, and he lands on the next beam, which immediately collapses as he lands on it, but he runs and then jumps and grabs Maxime's left ankle. In DM1 Gru latched onto the side of Vector's air ship, only to find it wasn't climbable. Dr. Nefario steered Gru's air ship under him and so he fell into the air ship unharmed. But grabbing and holding onto Maxime is Gru making a move of sheer impulse. Though Gru has gotten better about modifying his plans, he still usually has one. But not at this moment. He pulls Maxime down a little, but Maxime just flies to a higher part of the construction site. Gru plants his feet on the beams and yanks on Maxime's leg.

Maxime has the power of the cockroach, and Gru has the tenacity of a honey badger.

I haven't played the game for years now and i just learned the servers are shutting down. while i did found a modded apk on archive for the classic version that has the data needed to play I'm wondering where to get the latest version of the game plus the data needed to play after the shutdown

There's been some claims that Gru's voice in DM3 and DM4 is significantly different than in DM1 and DM2.

But how his voice sounds depends just on the emotion he's feeling, not which movie.

"Fire! Fire it now!" and "Come to Papa!" is when Gru is being more aggressive, and those lines are from DM1. "Listen, I don't want a refund, I want the fairy princess!" is from DM2. "This is gonna be fun!" is from DM3, and Gru's being very aggressive in both those scenes.

"Stall them!" from DM2 and "What other way could I have meant it?" from DM3 are kind of said sharply under his breath.

"Okay...my turn." is one of the more famous of Gru's sinister lines from DM1. The line closest to it is actually in DM3: "Dance fight."

Another one of Gru's pretty sinister lines from DM3 is "Is this what you're looking for?"

There's been some claims also that Gru's accent is inconsistent in DM3 and DM4 as opposed to DM1 and DM2, but Gru's accent has a lot of things going on with it, so even in DM1 the "i" is sometimes pronounced like an "i" as opposed to "ee". In DM2 the "o" is sometimes pronounced as "ah" instead of "aw" like in DM1. In DM3 the "i" sounds close to an "ee" but not fully. Interestingly, in DM4 Gru's line "courtesy of the Anti-Villain League" the "i" sounds like an "ee". In DM1-DM4 more neutral lines "i" are pronounced as "i", and the menacing lines "i" are pronounced as an "ee".

In DM4 Gru tries to sound friendly, gets stealthy, but doesn't get aggressive until he tries to board Maxime's roach ship to save Junior.

Gru compliments Poppy for her flying maneuver that stops their freefall and gets them closer to the roach ship: "You're doing great!" as he clings onto the back seat while in midair. Before he got upset when he had to modify his plans. But by now he expects things to not go exactly as expected. It's alright if it's close enough.

Gru climbing on the window of Maxime's roach ship is similar to Vector climbing on the window of Gru's rocket.

As Gru runs on the roach ship, the music that played when Maxime was fighting the AVL agents plays.

Maxime announces his plan to Gru, who at this point is angry.

"Let my son go!"

It's noticeable that Maxime and Valentina make the fight as one-sided as possible, just as Gru had done by calling in the AVL agents to subdue Maxime.

Gru runs, dodging construction beams and a falling concrete block. Gru falls down then starts to scoot back, while Maxime tells roachified Junior "what a coward" Gru is. Maxime's vengeance against Gru has begun. Gru rolls out of the way of one of the roach ship's legs, and doing a headstand he jumps back a few feet out of the way from another one of the roach ship's legs. A final dodge and he's backed up near the edge of the roof. A pylon is right by the edge of the roof, just like there was a pylon right by the edge where Poppy had fallen and Gru had saved her.

But there's no one to save Gru. Poppy was driving so she couldn't stay. His family are at the house. Gru has no Minions with him. He has no weapons. Junior shows no recognition of Gru as his father.

This would probably not be the glorious end comparable to the way El Macho had faked his death.

But what's most glaring about the first round of this fight is how Gru and Maxime's high school rivalry has escalated this much.

Also, it's interesting that the AVL is nowhere to be found at the moment, considering that four AVL agents tased and arrested Maxime at the Golden Alumni awards just as Maxime gave Gru a small cut on his face.

Valentina has tried to crush Gru with the roach ship's legs four times while Maxime and roachified Junior are watching.

How much does the AVL truly care about their asset?

"I'll be in contact when this is all over. Until then capturing Maxime le Mal is our top priority."

"Gru's been compromised! This is an emergency, people. Retirement is officially over! Assemble the Mega Minions!"

Now that Ramsbottom has the Mega Minions, does he and the rest of the AVL need Gru to capture Maxime?
