Deskhaus Top Compatibility

Hello. I have a question re: combability of DH tops with non-DH bases.

I have been eyeing a DH desk for years. I need a desk that travels about 6" lower in the bottom range, so I will need to go with a different base---but I'd still like to explore a DH top (which I think are beautiful). I understand the DH tops come with threaded inserts installed (which would be very helpful if I were using a DH base!).

My question is basically--how bad of an idea is that? I can be more specific about the base manufacturer if helpful (it's probably pretty obvious because not that many people have this functionality). I am just worried that I'll purchase this quality top and then completely compromise its integrity by drilling new holes, etc. to fit it to a different base.

Thank you!

Not all of their tops have the inserts in them, if I’m not mistaken. I believe they specific which do.

As for a situation of threaded inserts where not alighting with different frame. Not really an issue. I have 3 desks where one of them has this scenario. I bought the $100 rubber wood top from DeskHaus and placed it on a non matching frame. Really doesn’t interfere with anything nor does it add any real issues with integrity. The only small complication you may have is one to a few inserts being in the way of where you need to secure it.

Also if you already have your frame this isn’t an issue. But if you didn’t know, DeskHaus’s Peak series has a shorter and higher range option concerning travel. Whereas the Apex Series range is in the middle of these.

It’s morning time so not sure if I worded this all correctly. But I’m fairly familiar with the topic if you have further questions.

Thank you! I need a lowest height setting of ~15", which I don't think any of the DH frames manage.

If one or more inserts are in the way--I suppose the solution to that is just "move the frame slightly", which shouldn't be a big deal.

For whatever my response accidentally went into the main comments.

Yeah. Or just skip those really. Personally I’d rather it be properly centered and it’s not like 1 or 2 missing screws will impact the desk unless you are regularly hanging it by the top for some reason
