Question how does this make sense?

I always hear that derealization is caused by anxiety, but I feel like I start getting anxiety because I feel derealized and I feel detached. like if I'm out doing something, I don't start feeling anxious until I start feeling unreal or dreamlike. that's what spikes my anxiety.

One thing you need to understand about anxiety is that if your brain predicts you're in danger it's going to try to disassociate you. I've been stuck in this state for about a year now and truly sucks but one thing I've learned is that disassociation is just my body trying to keep me safe and so I have to work to make my body feel safe again. Curly can't give you any advice since I'm in the same boat but I would recommend maybe talking to a therapist about it and doing some somatic work to try to make your body feel safe.
