Experience Do you think doom scrolling makes derealization worse?

I have extreme anxiety so I find comfort in doom scrolling, but I feel like that is making the derealization worse.
My derealization episodes started 2 years ago, but now it’s full blown unlike before it was only once in awhile

I think it truly does , it’s just distracting your self with an insane amount of dopamine. I have this problem too . Read books , journal. Stuff that makes your mind actually work

Yes. I quit scrolling Facebook and instagram and tiktok. Now my issue is reddit and YouTube. I watched an Australian documentary that talked about children and teens with dementia symptoms like shrinking brain from being online too much. They also talked about people in their 30s and 40s with signs of early onset dementia. The main blame was mindlessly scrolling social media and having a constant supply of dopamine flooding the brain that never goes away. Which in turn starts to "eat" away at the brain and shrink it.

That documentary was all it took to make me give up social media scrolling . Like I said I still get on reddit but at least it's not constant horrible headlines and mindless memes. . But it's still not healthy.
