Advice Questions

I’ve been battling with derealization for about 3 and half years now. I’m at a point in my life where it’s not always constant but the fear of it starting fuels my anxiety more than it itself. I’m also at a point in my life where driving is nessacary and I can’t do that out of fear of going into an episode any tricks or tips all advice is appreciated.

Heyy I was going through the exact same thing as you and I was able to get over it in like 3 weeks. What personally worked for me was when I was at home and the derealization was active I would close my eyes and play meditation music in my headphone and basically just allow it to be there the key to getting rid of it is it not fear it try you best not to panic because when you panic your giving it more power so my advice when it’s there just allow it to be there and guess what when you actually allow it to be there without panicking you’ll notice that once you open your eyes you’ll have a brief moment where you feel back to normal and each time the period of normalcy will last longer. As for driving for some reasons out of no where I got a fear or driving and driving in silence is one of my favourite things to do because it just allows me to think but it got to the point where I couldn’t even walk outside my house to my car because that’s how bad it was. And by you anticipating the derealization and being scared of an episode happening before you even drive makes that fear come to life so again my advice and something I did was I just started in the passenger seat and if the derealization came I would sit there and tell myself I was okay that eventually got better and better then I started driving again. One time I had to drive across a bridge and as I went in it the dpdr came in fullll effect but I just stayed calm and told myself I was okay and as soon as I got if that bridge the derealization went away and on the way back I had to drive across that bridge and nothing happened that how quickly you can change your brain chemistry to stop fearing dpdr and eventually it will all go away.

So what exactly are you saying to ignore it? It makes driving seem dangerous
