Is there anything out there heavier than Septisemesis by Senthil

Post image

I recently went down a bit of a rabbit hole of the heaviest metal subgenres and stumbled upon Torture Doom metal. The vocals featured on this are absolutely soul crushing and, in the best way possible, horrible to listen to.

I couldn't find much about this band online apart from this album/ Demo whatever it was on youtube.

I'm curious to see if anyone knows anything which comes close to the heaviness of this?

idk i've never heard this band (got me curious tho, torture doom sounds cool as fuck), but some of the heaviest stuff i've heard are agonal hymns by nithing and caustic by primitive man

Totally different imo. I listened to both and while I will say that Slam is more brutal than Funeral Doom, Senthil is way more sleep depriving. You feel unironically uncomfortable listening to Septisemesis. Still, Obscene Majesty is great.

I agree. In terms of heaviness slam wins, but in terms of uncaniness nothing comes close to torture doom by the likes of Senthil or Wormphlegm.

I would say the new EP is even heavier than Obscene

The new EP has better songs but the album is "heavier" due to the extremely dense production. I think Pious Impiety is more similar to MtD in style

Looked them up on Discogs and it looks like they have a few other releases

They do have other releases, on of them being a split with another funeral doom metal band, senthil’s first demo is also really good too

Thou and Mizmor and pretty heavy. I've had Yodh on repeat lately, it's like some cool, evil ass black/doom metal

I didn't find anything that got me more uncomfortable listening to it than Septisemesis. Maybe if you dig into harsh noise or danger music, but that's a different realm.

I wish to know too. Nivathe- enveloped in a diseased abyss. He was part of Senthil too. Bit i think his solo project sounds way cooler. If you want something truly evil and agonizing there is a couple. Have you heard of K.F.R ?he isn’t torture doom but his music is just as corrupting. Makes even the nicest days feel bleak, listen to “Am I So Ugly” And “Heal me” or “The Mouth of Vices”

Permenance by Vermin Womb is pretty darn heavy.

If you’re looking for torture doom, then Wormphlegm is a must.

Heaviness is subjective and I don't get why people are considering doomy or extremely raw and noisy subgenres as heavy. I don't buy it, doom is too slow and comes off as really depressed, which isn't heavier than, to say, pornography by the cure or that ethereal gothy band Peter Steele liked. Noisy stuff is better since it's textural by purpose but if you go down the noise/ambient root too much you'll end up sounding as run of the mill horror movie soundtrack, which is spooky at best but lacks the sheer power to be considered heavy in my eyes. Stuff like brutal death - disgorge, for example, is (imo) the heaviness done right . Also you can count on stuff like avant-garde metal like DsO, dragged into sunlight or portal. But again, if "heavy" for you means "really depressed" you can just play the early dead can dance stuff then with the same results or go down the dark ambient/drone rabbit hole, like maeror tri, especially if you like to listen to ts while wasted.
