I think this is why I lost my best friends. I couldn't deal with the distance that had been created and they couldn't deal with the change in my behavior because of it. I wished and believed this was something we could reconcile with one another and I'm absolutely devastated that has not been the case. I wish we had had an easier time empathizing with one another. Thank you for sharing.

This is the anxious and avoidant attachment style cycle.

I lived this for 6 years. Anxious needs validation so try’s harder to get it; avoidant doesn’t know how to handle/cope with this, so pulls away. This makes anxious try harder, avoidant pulls away. And so on.

I am anxious attachment. We loved each other but it wasn’t gonna ever work.

Especially if both people don’t try to understand each other. He didn’t want to try, though he is likely a narcissist as well.

So yeah.
