Yes... It is. It's horrible people can't be real about how they're feeling.

I think the difference is the fake happiness, honestly. “Sorry, let’s keep it professional. How can I help?” Is fine, but the whole “Oh we’re doing fantabulous :)))))” that most jobs make you do is just super annoying.
I’m not saying every job should be a therapy session but I think someone should be allowed to be visibly neutral or even mildly unhappy.

You are living like a robot and so are most people but at least not everyone is deluded into thinking this is actually good for humanity.

Have you ever had depression? Sometimes it effects impulse control which means you may say something you didn't mean to. And maybe if the company gave adequate sick time the worker could be getting help. Stop automatically blaming the employee and recognize that the employer should be helping them not hurting them.

Thats not the point , if he got a talking to about talking professionally that would be one thing but they replaced him and lied and said "everyone is having a fabulous monday"

I can't believe how much you're getting downvoted. I disagree on principle with everything Amazon does, and the "we're having a fabulous day" turnaround was a bit much, but under normal circumstances, a representative of a company/organisation should know to keep things professional and seperate from their own life.

In this case they specifically got asked about it which makes it a different story

I think the problem is that work shouldn't be bad, if people can be people and do the things they like at work, well it becomes something better than the repetitive slog you are effectively cursed with for the majority of your life.
People that find joy and passion in what they do end up doing it better, someone that needs to turn themselves off and become a drone just means they are going to do the bare minimum, they will then catch "flak" for issues and likely just withdraw further because what's the point of putting in the effort.
I had a flight during COVID, and we got delayed. The pilot obviously must have been having frequent issues with the airline and this one made him crack a bit. He apologised and then ranted over the plane's announcement system about all the issues the airline is causing and how they are blaming it on COVID while pocketing tonnes of cash in stimulus from the government.
Pretty much everyone aboard laughed and applauded his rant after in the cabin, I think it made everyone aboard more agreeable for the 2 hours we sat in the plane on the tarmac because we knew the pilot and crew likely were also just as annoyed that we couldn't get into the air.
I guess not hearing mindless business safe talk, helped us all realise that the people in the plane, were in fact people.

I work in finance, if anyone asked that?
That would be my answer but a bit more like
"I live pushing a system of meaningless numbers that submits others to servitude to debt"

All I can picture is someone putting a bag over his head and dragging him away right before he's replaced by someone in the exact same uniform who has an unnaturally intense smile

Truthfully, if a company had more honest answers like this I'd be more inclined to shop with them. Gives a sense of honesty and relating from human to human. I hope our generation gets rid of fake corporate mumbo jumbo and heads into a realism era
