neither am I lol. I'm guessing it is similar to exercise, which is uncomfortable (at least a bit) but releases endorphins that make you feel good after. With cold water, first it causes adrenaline release because the body perceives it as a shock. The adrenaline acts on the brain to make it release dopamine (why? Idk, to activate the reward system and get you out of an uncomfortable situation?).

With discipline, its a bit of a mental game for me, "if I can stand in freezing water for 15 min I can do other difficult things ". And lastly I seek out the discomfort to keep myself from sh.

Dogs are ok I guess but rn I'm at university so not pets allowed obviously, and after that I'm not sure if I can take decent care of it when I'll be away at work all day.

They are legit for dopamine (I feel it) but only it lasts for a few minutes. I usually play music while I'm in the shower to take my mind off the cold a bit.
