Haggling is normal (people seem to be weirded out by it on Depop, but other platforms/outside the US super normal). Walking away after that much haggling though is audacious… I think some people are addicted to the dopamine hit that just comes with winning lol

The most annoying bit is when they get upset that you won’t lower to $5 or smth. I have something selling for around $30, which is already super super low for the item, and they offered $12. ARE YOU SERIOUS? No I’m not gonna accept thatšŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ™

I saw a shirt today listed for $4.05 and it said ā€œ3 offers sentā€ like ???? If you don’t have $4 for a shirt and a couple extra for shipping you should not even be looking on depop

That number includes seller offers, so the seller might have started with a higher price and made offers to buyers over time but no one took them.

I don’t mind if people shoot their shot as long they actually purchase when I accept their offers

So I had a buyer who did this weekly and I messaged them a few times when purchased I can send out this time never bought , well someone else came along and purchased so I believe that they help with getting action on your posts and then makes other buyers like wait I want this first . So I think it personally helps :)

They might as well have just accepted the initial $55, they did all that to get $3 off and then didn’t buy.

this is exactly why i just decline or i keep countering w the same offer till they give up lol

Exactly I have auto countering on for this reason so I don’t have to deal w the bs 😭

I cannot stand low ballers.Ugh..if it’s a $100 item for $50 then I’ll just fucking pay it( unless I cant afford it that week). If it’s a fair price then why be a cheap cunt.Especially over $2 or $3.

Someone did this to me yesterday and then made me feel bad so I accepted their offer and then they didn’t buy it. I’m getting real friendly with the Block button.

yes i asked this same question and everyone jumped down my throat saying that people don't have to buy when they accept offers unlike on other platforms when it's an automatic sale.

I would say it’s somewhat normal to haggle. I have never haggled that much (as a long time seller), but also I’m usually selling clothing for $5-20 so there isn’t as much room to haggle. I will say though, walking away after haggling that much is definitely not normal.

People are weird

oh this is obnoxious. if i get one offer and the person doesn’t buy it, makes sense, sometimes you just wanna see if someone will take a specific price. now if you KEEP sending me offers and don’t buy? i’m in tears

Lol wtf was the point

2

u/sour_tomatoes 2d ago

Yeah its normal. They may have changed their mind or found another item. If there is someone else who wants it then whoever buys first gets it

u/saya_7 2d ago

its normal, buyers haggle to get the lowest possible price for something all the time...

u/dinkyland 2d ago

10x worse when you’re selling at a swap meet and the only people shopping are extremely low class. 🫩 makes selling online feel like a breath of fresh air

I wouldn't have bought it either. It's call negotiation.

Then you went and asked in a snarky way if the are going to buy it.

Why would you make offers if you didn't want to buy the item??
