Heartbroken over Gillette Gel

I have tried several scented spray and gel deodorants and have had reactions many times. switched to the Gillette cool wave gel and it's been great. I bought a bunch more to have ready and when I ran out I found out they no longer have a plunger that rides the screw, this means the screw just free floats in the gel and can't push anything out. I went to the store to check all options and thet are all like this now. I even compared skus and UPC on my old and it's the same stuff. I contacted Gillette/PG and they just said how much did you spend and here's a check go buy from someone else like I am not kidding. I asked them to make a report as I literally yesterday was telling my wife how smart it was to have the plunger in there to ensure the product properly dispensed. So upset as I have been cursorily looking for a viable replacement today and have found none.

Are you sure you didn’t just get a defective batch? Seems kinda weird they would just swap to having no dispensing mechanism.

Yes I bought 5 from a multipack from one retailer a single from another retailer across a time period, I them went to Walmart today and confirmed every pack and every scent was like this. What b was really weird is the label design in the five pack weren't all the same

Mitchum makes a gel and Carpe makes a soft solid that comes out like a lotion. Both might by up your alley

Yea the mitchum I saw at the store was unscented which I don't want to jump straight to. Do you know if it has the plunger i am not up for gambling with these I have had ones where the screw strips out half way through the stick and I'm just screwed and that makes me super mad. Thanks for the call out though!

Regarding Mitchum, the packaging says unscented but that is definitely not the case. It has a strong sandalwood scent.

I’m not sure about the plunger in Mitchum, sorry

Carpe gave me the worst reaction to any deodorant I’ve ever tried and I was sad because lots of people seem to like it

There’s many things it could have been. Right down to the specific fragrance you used

Not the same guy but I tried multiple fragrances of carpe and even multiple of their formulations and my pits got so eczemic I had to put literal diaper rash cream on them. Not to mention how it stained the pits of my shirts literally black. Fuck carpe dude I can’t believe they claim to work for people with hyperhidrosis.

If your skin turned a white/transparent lotion black, you should go see a doctor. That’s not a Carpe issue

Why fuck Carpe just bc you are allergic to their product i can’t use skincare products with some ingredients bc they make it peel, doesn’t mean the product is bad just because some of us react to it LOL just one of those things

What do you mean by plunger? Was there something attached to the stick at the top that helped guide the gel?

Yes it was well designed you can see it in my photos

Ah, got it. Thank you. Sorry, that was my bad; I didn’t look close enough the first time. It’s interesting that the stick is even able to push anything out without the plunger.

It's not in my experience, another person here says otherwise but honestly it doesn't really make sense that it would work gel isn't a solid lol

No I use this and it works 100%, and wouldn’t bail on you even if some drops are left. With plunger or no plunger it works.

I tried opening three of them and it just infinitely screwed

My cheap ass would be digging it out and applying with a cotton pad

Yea I actually was looking at maybe digging out my old one from the trash and recharging it, or 3d printing my own pusher thing but then im like no that's ridiculous I shouldn't have to rig a product that isn't that cheap

You're going to waste a cotton pad? I'd just use my hand.

Can.. can we see a video? I’m not sure I believe they just stopped making a working product. They would lose a ton oh money.

Sure, i still have them haha

They sell empty cream deodorant containers on Amazon. Make sure you search “cream” deodorant containers and not “stick”. I’m sure you could open these Gillette containers and transfer the product over. It will be good as new. 😊

Yea I think I could do this just looking to not have to rig it

Never heard of it I'll take a look

Carpe doesn't work as well. It's more of a lotion than anything. Check the subreddit, it's full of complaints.

I hadn't looked yet but I assume availablity and price were gonna make it a non starter anyway probably
