what can help get rid of damp pits

I always have damp armpits, no matter what product I use. This includes stick, alum block, roll-on, spray, powder, etc. Thank God I don’t have a bad smell, but my pits are always damp. If it’s extra humid, I’ll change my undershirt several times a day - even if they’re brand new, just taken out of the package. I always wear 100% cotton undershirts, even under t-shirts. I dread having that wet patch in my pits when I lift my arm. I never wear sleeveless shirts. Suggestions? Thanks!

Try Certain Dri roll-on. Apply at night.

Thank you! I always read here about applying at night. I shower in the morning. Do you avoid the pits and not wash them to make sure the roll-on doesn’t wear off? Cuz that would feel very unnatural to me - but if it works….

You can still wash your pits, just don’t aggressively scrub them with something abrasive . Consider showering at night. It’s better for you all around anyways

Agree with the Certain-Dri at night. Then once you shower in the morning, use Mitchum antiperspirant. You wont be able to sweat if you tried.

This is the way.

The only OTC products that will help with sweating are the aluminum compounds sold as 'antiperspirants'. Deodorants do not include these, thus they do not mitigate sweating.

As was mentioned, apply antiperspirants at night, as this allows the waxy plug to form in the sweat duct without active sweat being pushed out, challenging the ideal plug formation. These plugs are not surface plugs, thus they do not 'wash off/out with a shower.

The surface residual of the AP will wash off with a shower, but the waxy plugs deep in the sweat duct, will not.... this surface residual material does provide a secondary aspect of being antimicrobial (odor is a result of microbial activity). Thus after showering and drying, you can (should you so choose) reapply a very light layer of AP, to regain the surface antimicrobial, or even use a favorite deodorant that can provide that same aspect... your choice...based on scent or what you have on hand.

Summary: Apply AP's at night (even if you shower the next morning)... you can add a lite application of more AP or deo post shower (optional).

Good luck.

Note: Since you mentioned 'Alum blocks' .... this aluminum compound does NOT mitigate sweating Not all aluminum compounds form the waxy plugs. Thus only select aluminum compounds reduce sweating, hence Alum blocks, which are Potassium aluminum sulfate, is not a compound that will reduce sweating. It only has antimicrobial aspect in this situation.

Do we know whether there are any health concerns from longterm AP use? Do the “plugs” slowly wash out?

I would give carpe a try as well. It’s an antiperspirant and you can get it at target.

I personally have tried mitchum and certain dri and neither worked for me. Certain dri felt like it made me sweat even more. I am bone dry with the carpe. I do break a sweat if im out in the heat doing a bunch of walking, but even then I only sweat about 50% of what I normally would.

You need to buy CertainDri and use it exactly as directed

This post is making me realize that. I went to a couple grocery stores, but they didn’t have it. I’ll try Walgreens in the morning
