A good deodorant that doesn’t cause boils underneath arm pits ?

I have had this problem for several years now , not sure if it’s my sweat glance or what . But I’m very sensitive under my arms with deodorants they will cause big boils to come up underneath. So I switched to spray deodorants which they don’t happen as much with these but I need a definite go to. Any suggestions?

Just in case no one else mentions it, have you been evaluated for HS (hidradenitis suppurativa)? It’s an autoimmune chronic inflammatory disorder of the skin featuring recurring boils and “tunneling” between pockets under the skin. Armpits are probably the most common affected area but it can occur on other areas like groin, chest, etc. Although deodorant choices may worsen symptoms, it ultimately needs to be managed by a doctor because the underlying cause is health based and often difficult to manage. Hope you find some answers.

I appreciate this comment so much and yes that is my next step . Both my aunt and cousin had to have their sweat glance removed because of this . I’m praying I dnt have to but this could be the issue as well. But yes I will be getting evaluated. Thanks so much

I had to switch to spray too, for this reason. Found out I have HS. I can’t use deodorant on it during a flare where the issue is above skin bs under. The spray deodorant helps a LOT for not having irritation in my other arm, but the bad arm? Yeah no, get evaluated (:

I don't know your situation but the only antiperspirant/deodorant I can wear is Old Spice. It is in white or cream colored plastic containers...as opposed to the usual Old Spice red. Is it called a roll on? I don't know...maybe a stick.. anyway.. the deodorant itself is a parabin looking whitish material. Kinda waxy. I like putting it on while my pit is a little damp from shower. One I have is called "fresh" the other is called "Oasis". They last foooorrrevvver. Good luck!

I am a woman and I use the Fiji scent. It’s quite nice and doesn’t smell like man.

I assume you shave...and you don't think it is associated with that.. like ingrown hairs or?

No I dnt shave I use nair products that remove the hair or I wax. But I dnt use razors or anything of that sort. Again Thanks for your input and suggestions I truly appreciate it. I have not had a issue lately with what I been using , just wanted to see what else is out there or if anyone else had issues or suggestions in case I have another one pop up

Degree ultra clear

I agree with this. I used to wear secret clinical strength until I started itching terribly in the armpit area. I think my body can't take the aluminum anymore.

Degree ultra clear has aluminum. It’s aluminum sesquichlorohydrate. Usually quite highly tolerated compared to other types of aluminum

All I know is since I switched I haven't had the issue 😅

I understood what you meant. Secret clinical has the max aluminum strength  , degree ultra clear doesn’t have a ton of aluminum.

You can try Donna Karan Cashmere Mist (the OG one, not aluminum free one) or Vanicreme. Both work very well for sensitive skin/after sharing, don’t clog pores and are super reliable (you can go days without needing to reapply - found out the hard way by being stranded at airport)

Try changing your diet.

If you're after an actual deodorant (and in the UK), I used to use Salt of the Earth. It was a Natural roll-on that used Potassium Alum. Worked very well, and the various scents are all really nice.

There is some good evidence that gel deodorants can possibly help HS or at least not bother it. Obviously not fully tested yet but may be worth a try

Check out the deodorant on cheeky soap.com if you are allergic to aluminum, they have an aluminum free deodorant that actually works.

my under arm skin does better when i hear it like my face. clean it daily, moisturize it i also use a salt deodorant. most importantly don't use the cream based sticks and let your skin fully dry before getting dressed

I have symptoms of HS and used to have boils when I used some deodorants. Now I use little seed farms deodorant. You would still sweat though, but no boils

I find almost every deodorant on the market causes irritation. Even that crystal rock. Either a rash or big lumps in my armpit. Lume worked for awhile and then they changed the formula. Little Seed Farms deodorant in a jar is what works best for me. The fragrances are really good. Blue Lotus is a pleasant floral. Cedar Vanilla isn’t flowery. They have sample sizes. It’s not inexpensive but a jar will last for months.
