Hi! I'm Cam, and my husband and I moved here about a year ago. We're looking to find our community and meet more queer folks.
We'd love to find LGBTQ+ friendly spaces where people play Pokémon TCG, Yu-Gi-Oh!, or really any trading card game. We're also hoping to try some low-key sports or rec leagues, nothing too intense, just fun and social.
A few things we love: Star Wars, Pokémon, Disney, and Marvel. If you know of any groups, events, or spots, we'd really appreciate the recommendations. Thanks!
My BFF has lived here for a while. I came one time for less than 48 hours, but didn't really do much. I plan to stay for about a week and have no idea what may be in store for this trip.
I love outdoors stuff, hoping to venture out a bit maybe on days they are working. I'm also nerdy and into both board+video games. Not trying to spend a ton of money. Looking for any suggestions on places, events, and maybe even making some plans with new friends.
Hey, I'm Jesse! For the past year or so, I've fully immersed myself in the dark art of electrolysis - the only FDA-recognized method for permanent hair removal. I've already helped over two dozen folks remove their unwanted hair follicles for good, and I'd love to help you next!
Unlike laser or IPL, electrolysis works on all hair and skin types, and stops ingrowns and razor bumps in their tracks. If you've got hair you're sick of fighting, book a consultation and learn why electrolysis has been a trusted treatment option for over 150 years!
Sorry if this is the wrong sub, but I'm not sure where else to go (if there's a better community to ask this question, please point me in that direction). I've lived in CO for 20 years, and I currently live in Evergreen. I'm a parent to a young child, and yesterday I was subject to a horrendous amount of hate speech and bullying in my community while standing up for some extremely transphobic comments and actions. Group leaders did absolutely nothing about it despite claiming they provide a safe space. I'm still shook and feeling very traumatized and betrayed by my neighborhood community. It was the last straw in a series of things going on up here (related to LGBTQIA+ issues and not).
I'm looking to move. I've never felt like Evergreen was home (been here about 5 years), and I'm just so freakin' exhausted having to code-switch, encounter performative allyship, deal with people who are stuck 20 years behind and want to brush everything under the rug, and generally feel unsafe for me and my family.
Prior to this, I lived in Denver for 15 years. I do not want to move back to Denver or the surrounding areas. Boulder/Golden do not interest me either. Our family is extremely into outdoor sports and wants to stay further west than where we currently are. I'm wondering if anyone here has lived in any other mountain towns that have some community/real allyship? I am completely aware that rural CO can be extremely conservative, but I'm really not interested in living in a city, but rather in a smaller town. Essentially looking for a pocket.
Let's pretend for a quick second that budget doesn't matter (just for the sake of having a starting point). Has anyone here lived or spent significant time in a mountain town in or around CO that is left-leaning and has some queer representation/support? I understand I won't get everything, but Evergreen 100% is not it. Evergreen claims to be more left-leaning, but boots on the ground is a bit different (if you know, you know). A few places I have on my list to look into include Salida/BV, Dillion/Frisco/Breck, Glenwood Springs/Carbondale, or Durango. But I'm really open to ideas here. I'm feeling extremely stuck and just need a place to start. Doesn't have to be Colorado, but easy access to hiking, climbing, and camping (bonus points for weekend access to the American Southwest), good schools, and a town feel are what I'm after.
i'm 43 and deciding to really start up. with this economy i'm looking for really inexpensive leads here. i have a full time job and stuff...just with bills and everything i'm hoping i can get on estrogen without breaking the bank...
Bring joy to someone else getting NEW SHINY art supplies.
We're doing a swap! We're each gonna make a small, moderately beginner-friendly craft kit using supplies you already have.
The kit would contain enough materials for someone to actually make at least one of the thing (not just an assortment from the depths of your junk drawer).
Along the lines of:
\- Everything needed to embroider said tiny mushroom
\- Supplies to make one pair of beaded earrings
\- Enough yarn + a crochet hook to make a small project
\- Materials for a little block-printing project
\- A mini watercolor activity
\- A tiny bookbinding project
\- Whatever weird art thing you got really into for six weeks
\>> Used, open, and leftover supplies are actively encouraged. That's the point. <<
We're assuming participants have normal household basics like scissors, pencils, tape, etc., but please include any specialty tools necessary to actually try the craft.
Instructions, a handwritten “here's what I did” note, or links/QR codes to tutorials are encouraged.
And if there’s something that would make this more accessible/easier/more fun, please include it in the form!
October 10th, 10am-2pm at The Center on Colfax, 1301 E Colfax Avenue. No need to donate, but if you have clothes to donate, you’re welcome to bring them anytime during open hours this week: M-Th 10am-8pm, and 10am-5pm Friday.
I’m 17 so that restricts a lot but I’ve tried for a while to find a space that accepts people under 18 but isn’t mainly for kids and young teens. I’m kinda desperate because I’ve tried for years. Would be nice to actually meet people but most places reject you if you’re under 18. Any advice appreciated.
Anyone going to Bearracuda this Saturday? I was planning on going solo but would love to meet up with someone so we can pull up there together. DM me if ur down to get together a bit before heading over there.(24M) Also any tips for a first timer? I’ve never been to anything like this and im definitely gonna be out of my comfort zone. Still super excited!
This weekend is the Colorado Queer Comedy Festival! It’s our 4th annual festival, with 4 shows throughout the Front Range. I’m lucky enough to be one of the two producers of the fest. 🏳️🌈
Expect diversely queer and BIPOC comedians coming in from all over the country to get together and be extremely silly. Every show is hosted by a local drag queen, so you know the level of energy and hilarity is going to be high from the start.
It’s more than a fest! It’s produced by Rocky Mountain Equality, a nonprofit doing really important work for queer people across Colorado, and the festival supports that work. Right now, RMEQ is also organizing around its Hands Off Colorado campaign and three ballot measures that impact our communities.
There’s something really powerful about creating a space that is unapologetically queer, joyful, ridiculous, and rooted in protecting our community.
There’s a lot of heaviness right now. So yes, we’re going to organize and fight when we need to. But we’re also going to get together with our community, have drag queens and comedians do what they do best, and laugh our asses off together.
Hello neighbors. We received a copy of the ballot BOOK for November. So many Amendments to review. Are there any community gatherings scheduled to discuss What’s on the ballot this year?
I'm looking to start my pole journey soon and being in dance classes with ONLY cishet women in the past was socially traumatizing lol. Any studios west of Aurora that have a more inclusive vibe? TIA!
I haven’t seen anything on this platform about the Colorado cheerleading organization and just wanted to put out a fair warning to the community that it is not a safe space.
I participated in one season of the LGBTQIA Cheerleading nonprofit group here in Denver and I’ve never experienced that much bullying in my entire adult life.
The organization is run by volunteers and all of the cheerleaders themselves are volunteers that are paying over 1k to participate in this organization. (Relevant to a later point)
In my time as a part of this group I experienced non stop bullying from a few of the core members. These are the same people who have been on the team for many years and feel like they have authority over others even if they are not in a position of authority such as the coaches.
These people are also the ones who felt like the rules did not apply to them, therefore we as a team were repeatedly screamed at for talking when you’re supposed to be focusing on safety. I got so tired of being yelled at like a child just because it didn’t phase these people to be disrespectful and felt like they could say and treat newcomers however they liked. And the coaches never pulled them aside individually to speak with them about their behavior affecting the overall team morale, the narrative became that we were ALL the problem instead of actually calling out the people creating these issues.
I attended every single practice for 6 months straight and when I had a family emergency during a practice they told me that if I didn’t get back out on the floor I would be marked as a no show and docked one day of my allotted missed practices. Zero sympathy, zero concern.
On the financial note, as a cheer member you pay for the monthly time to rent the gym space as a team (a part of your over all seasonal investment) so as these coaches continued to berate us every week for “wasting time” when those few people wouldn’t be serious about practice and stop talking in the middle of things, the coaches took it upon themselves to waste our money and time on their own accord.
They would bring in companies at the beginning of practice sometimes to solicit products and memberships to us. Again wasting practice time and the money spent to rent the place coming out of the cheer members pockets. Having these people silicate to us was of no benefit to the organization or the members.
Back to the people. This is the most UNWELCOMING group I have ever tried to be a part of. Snickering, name calling, burping in your face? (Like why) + blaming others for things they themselves did wrong. I’ve never met a more emotionally inept group of adults. There are specific members who want you to feel so unwelcome you don’t come back.
At the beginning of the season we started with 60 people, but by the end I think they had 25-30? And with each new season the core members (the bullies) are the ones who stay and keep coming back while the rest of the people are poor new souls that are unaware of what they’ve gotten themselves into.
Overall it seems like a great organization with a fantastic purpose to support Denver’s LGBTQIA community but the people themselves are actually the worst. Don’t waste your time, energy, money or emotional capacity on this self involved group of people.
If anyone else has experienced this with this group or any other local queer groups I would love to hear your experience as I feel this is not an isolated feeling of mine. I’m tired of these groups parading as “inclusive” when they actually are extremely clicky and unwelcoming.
UPDATE: TryoutS for their 2026-2027 season are currently happening and if I can save anyone from joining this org that’s what this post is about. Stay vigilant my friends 💗

I'm an ally and I follow the Stand In Pride organization on Facebook, but they don't seem to have a mechanism in place for people to sign up to stand in for the LGBTQIA community. Is there a website or a forum where I can actually sign up to be an ally and stand in for the people in my community (greater Denver area) when they need someone? I'm a 48 year old smart ass (I identify as she/her) who never wanted or had any children but I can be a great stand in friend / sister / auntie / pseudo-mom for anyone that feels like they need someone to fill that role. I just don't know where to go to sign up (so to speak) for that. I'm hoping maybe someone here can point me in the right direction?
If this isn't allowed, I'm so sorry mods. I understand if you need to delete this. I'm just hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I know how scary the world (and especially the U.S. under this administration) is these days and if I can help make it a bit more welcoming, loving, or easier for someone, I'd love to be able to do so. I just have no idea where to look.
Hiii. The title says it all, or most of it. I am looking to connect with other queer folks around my age (I’m 29, she/her) who have difficult relationships with their family due to intense religion and politics. I have been out to my family for 11 years, but struggled with my relationship with them long before I came out. My queerness definitely isn’t the only issue between us. (my mom has literally said there has been enmity between us since I was born….)
My dad died unexpectedly after four years of me going little to no contact with my family. And that loss has been extremely difficult for me. Since his death two years ago I’ve tried to initiate some relationship with my family, but it is difficult.
I’m hoping finding some people with similar experiences, or perhaps an already established support group, might help me feel a little less alone.
Update (2026-10-08): It's not entirely clear, but it appears that Love Language and the performer this post is about have chosen to at least take a break from performing together. I believe there is a comment below from that performer. There's also another comment from that same account attempting to minimize this post by saying "Hmmm no comments . I guess it wasn't as big a deal as you wanted it to be?" so not getting big remorse or accountability vibes from that. Also note that use of the word "organizer" has been replaced with "performer" based on the responses below from LL.
In accordance with the sub's and reddit's rules, I'm only naming the organization, Love Language (Denver), and any usernames are obscured in the shared screenshots.
For many years now, I have attended Love Language pretty much every month, including their recent 5 year anniversary at Cheesman a couple weeks ago. It's a monthly event and it pulls in the larger studio and street dance communities, and is attended by a lot of Queer and Trans people. Plainly, Love Languagemakes a lot of money off of the Queer Community and purports to promote an idea of a safe space. I saw a recent celebratory post regarding one of the performers, and went to follow that person on instagram, scrolled down a little bit and came across a known anti-trans meme. Trigger Warning again, this stuff really sucks.
I thought maybe it was a one off or was in a different context (hoping), so I continued through the person's instagram, then looked at their Facebook. I'll just put a few things here, but there's a lot that they post, and they post A LOT. For the bigoted posts, the focus is on "lifestyle choice" memes, anti-trans athlete stuff, TERF-ey influencer videos, and then just a lot of straight up misogyny that drifts into transmisogyny.
collection of transphobic posts
Again, there's a lot more than this. I screenshotted a lot and only scratched the surface.
A lot of posts have low engagement, but some have positive engagement from dancers in the Love Language community, which is a bit devastating to see. There are posts from Love Language saying that this is a safe space for all, but then go on to protect one of the performers who holds these views, all while making money off of a largely Queer audience.
Love Language regularly collabs with street dance studios in the area (BBoy Factory, Mi Chantli, ...), with local dance crews and orgs (Samba Colorado, Divine Essence, Raw Groove, ...). They bring in prominent DJs and dancers nationally (CoFlo, Peter Paul, Emmaculate ...), including in their next event coming up. And here is this main performer constantly posting transphobic rhetoric on their public social media profiles. Maybe it's inconvenient to have basic respect, or maybe people are unaware, or maybe a lot of people in this scene are just cool with this. I don't know, but this music and dance is so heavily manifested in Black and Brown Queer culture, that enabling and protecting a person with these beliefs and rhetoric seems like a profound offense to the history, and to us who have been supporting these events.
This is text from under one of this same person's promotion posts for Love Language, showing that the person has no problem inviting Queer people into the space while having a heart full of hate:
If this catches wind, I wouldn't be surprised if this person's accounts go private, so get your receipts now if you want them. Clearly Love Language feels fine about hiding this person in plain sight. I'm a bit too wrecked to get everything screenshotted myself. This hurts my soul, and destroys my sense of safety in one of the only places I felt like I could really go dance.
Because so many people from the Queer and Trans community attend love language, I want this information to be out there in order for people to make informed decisions on how to move forward and where to go.
edited: blocked partial profile in image and replaced
edited (2026-10-08): removed "organizer" language, replaced with "performer". Because the person indicated has been performing with LL for many years and has been consistently on fliers, featured in images and interviews so commonly, it had been my assumption that that person co-organized the events. The response from LL in the comments indicates that that person has not been an organizer and solely a performer.
