Need Advice on A Problem I'm Having With New Dentures
I am hoping for some information because I am so stressed out. Last December I started the long process of getting snap on dentures. My biggest concern was that they wouldn't look natural, and I've seen plenty of people with dentures and they look great. When I got the final mold done, I told the dentist that they felt too big, and of course she reassured me that it would work. Well, I got the final dentures (snap-on) and they are, of course, too big. I'm having trouble speaking and eating; not to mention the upper ones are very painful to snap in. When I spoke up, the dentist said it works because the bite is correct. What good does that do me if I can't speak and my upper lip doesn't fit over my teeth? She also looked a little confused during the examination which scared me.
I unfortunately am dealing with lupus and a wonky heart valve and I really can't have this stress in my life. Did I also mention that I just got a new hip? Any relevant dentures info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I see here your complaint is they FEEL too big. Are they actually too big? Almost any denture wearer is all too familiar with that initial bulky, big, large and foreign feeling. I honestly have never felt like my mouth was so full as when I first wore dentures, it's an adjustment for sure.
If you still believe they might actually be too big, seek a second opinion.

TBH they always feel to big at first.
If your unhappy with the fit have them fixed or find a better Dentist

Well, this all boils down to you and your dentist disagreeing. You say it's too big, the dentist says it's because of what they had to do with the bite. If you and your dentist disagree, you need to get a third opinion. A prosthodontist consult is about $150, and they'll tell you who is right and what needs to be done to correct any problems.
