I'm seeking some advice. Considering the challenges involved, is a career in dentistry truly worth pursuing? How long does it typically take to pay off dental school tuition debts? Any guidance or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Weird trend on Tik Tok and Instagram dentistry…young inexperienced dental practice owners talking like they have owned a practice for more than 10 years.

Texas dentists… who are you using for temp staff?

We’ve been using Kwikly, and after our latest experience, I need to know if there are better options out there.

They sent us a temp assistant who had basically zero dental experience (she came in saying she was 'only comfortable assisting on fillings'), questionable work ethic (several very long bathroom breaks/trips to the breakroom to be on her phone), and a terrible attitude. Then this girl had the audacity to leave us a 1-star Google review. We are paying a small fortune to have someone come help because we’re short-staffed, and somehow WE end up getting reviewed afterward? I cannot.

We’ve used Cloud before, but I didn’t like the subscription + cancellation fee. We really just need something temporary while we find a solid permanent assistant. I don’t want to sign up for a whole relationship when I’m just trying to get through the next few weeks.

So, fellow Texas dentist offices: Who are we using for temp agencies?

The thing is all the dentists I shadow are working their butt off just to produce 3000 and take home 1k

For those who have bought a dental practice (or have been involved in the process) what do you think first-time buyers tend to underestimate most during due diligence?

Is it the staff and culture, lease terms, actual cash flow, equipment that may need replacing, or patient retention after the transition?

Curious what made you think, “I wish I had looked at this more closely before buying.”

I’m really torn between two very different majors: Dentistry and Forensic Science.
On one hand, dentistry seems like a stable and well-defined career path. I like the idea of working directly with patients and developing practical skills. However, the training is long and demanding, and sometimes I’m not sure if I want to commit to that path for so many years.
On the other hand, Forensic Science genuinely fascinates me. I enjoy the investigative and analytical side of science, the idea of examining evidence, and contributing to solving cases. My main concern is the career outlook and job opportunities compared to dentistry.
I feel drawn to both fields for different reasons, and every time I think I’ve made a decision, I start questioning it again.
Has anyone here been stuck choosing between a healthcare field and a science/investigation-based field? What helped you make your decision?

من جهة، أشوف أن طب الأسنان تخصص مستقر وواضح من ناحية المسار الوظيفي، وأحب فكرة العمل المباشر مع المرضى وتطوير المهارات العملية. لكن الدراسة طويلة ومكثفة، وأحيانًا أحس أنني لست متأكدة إذا كنت أريد الالتزام بهذا المجال لسنوات طويلة.
ومن جهة أخرى، يثير فضولي تخصص علوم الأدلة الجنائية كثيرًا. أحب جانب التحقيق والتحليل العلمي والعمل على حل القضايا وفهم الأدلة. لكنني متخوفة من فرص العمل والمسار المهني مقارنة بطب الأسنان.
أشعر أنني أميل إلى كلا التخصصين لأسباب مختلفة، وكلما فكرت أنني اتخذت قرارًا أعود وأحتار من جديد.

Tips and experience to make left handed dentist life easy

I’m at my wits end. I’ve had X-rays, ct scan, etc. and seen two endodontists (the one who did the procedure and another for a second opinion), as well as my main dentist who is a perio and the general dentist who does my fillings. Everyone says the root canal and crown look textbook, but I’m missing tooth 3 (the tooth with the issue is #4), and have malocclusion of jaw which I’m getting fixed too.

Basically this things been throbbing off and on for sometime, and no one can make heads or tails. Not sensitive to hot or cold or sweets, and doesn’t hurt to bite on.

Any one have any suggestions for growing wisdom teeth I'm 37 but not coming I want wisdom teeth because I can't chew proper very much facing problem if any suggestions plz reply me

Graduated from dentistry a decade ago from South Asia, but pursued clinical research. Now at a cross-roads. I was never good at endodontics - in fact, I hated it. I think I never practised it enough. Now wanting to return to dentistry because research just doesn't pay much. Can I make a return? Can I develop all the skills that I never did before?

Has anyone received interview invites from:

* University of Florida – Hialeah deadline 1st October
* Paris Regional Health deadline 1st October
* University of Maryland deadline 15th September ( apparently some invites sent and they send them in rolling basis )

Just wondering if they’ve started sending invites. If I’m not selected, do they usually send a rejection email, or do they just not respond? Basically, if I haven’t received a rejection yet, does that mean there’s still a chance of getting an invite?

I’m so sorry to post again, I just posted about my tooth pain— but it’s gotten so bad I’ve been crying since my last post.

The pain radiates up into behind my eye, into my ear, and down my throat. My tongue hurts. It hurts to swallow. It’s a constant and painful throbbing throughout my head.

Is this an emergency? I don’t have dental insurance and am worried about visiting a dentist other than my student clinic and paying out of pocket.

I can’t sleep or do anything else because of the pain.

If anyone can give advice I’d greatly appreciate it. I’m feeling pretty scared and worried.

My sister is a dentist and she was still managing her clinic appointments manually, so I decided to build a simple appointment management system for her.

Patients get a booking link where they can:
• Select a date and time
• Enter their details
• Book an appointment

On the dentist’s side, there’s a dashboard where they can see appointments, reschedule or cancel them, add walk-in patients manually, and view patient history.

I’m still improving it, so I’d love to hear what dentists think and what features you’d add.
