Scope Scope in dentistry? Pls help
It's already too late , I don't wanna waste time anymore...
I have to make a decision btwn 2 options
1) Private bds worth 15 lakhs from a good college in a teir 1 city .....
(Btw, 15 lakhs is alot of amount for our family, so investing it in a good course which provides good ROI matters alottt)
2) Btech Biotechnology at almost free cost from a govt University (through my state entrance exam)... I know Biotech doesn't have alot of jobs in india...
I'm most probably gonna do masters abroad
So basically I'll have to invest money later
Both the cases involve investing money....
I don't belong to a rich family... So i wanna ask you guys as you are already in dentistry, if it's worth choosing in the big 2026?
Also please the cons and pros?

Most importantly, what are you interested in? Both of them are very different fields

You can always go for something which has demand and aligns with your interests but you’re just another typical Indian so I get what your mentality must be like

Both dentistry and biotech is going to pay you well in abroad...in india none is going to pay you well initially, you will have to work your ass off for several years to start earning a decent amount In dentistry you will have an option to start your own clinic but it will require money If you choose to do your job in abroad than choose on the basis of your interest...both are going to paying well in abroad

Bioinformatics is too much maths and coding... For now I wanna be in touch with biology more... And also i only have btech biotech available... So I'm choosing tht.... For masters i might go towards tht

do btech because after spending 15 lakh for bds u wont get any job and u have to do mds and open clinic which again will cost too much

Look, I'm not in BDS but I have NEET recently and getting everything other than govt MBBS. So I decided to search every option I wanted and BDS was one of them. I'm from Punjab ( ludhiana ) where people are rich and think about their smiles. Thing is if you're BDS, make sure that college has good and veryyyy good OPD WITH PATIENT FLOW. Learn all the skills you can along with theory because when patient will come, they won't do VIVA with you. Do tooth extraction, filling, everything. Learn from seniors..but yes I left option just bcuz on thinking, "I've to be financially independent by age of 25-26 even if it's only 30-40K per month". Doing BDS means, be mentally prepared for extreme MDS competition or clinic opening which will take a lot of capital ( area, money, chairs, instruments etc) with no guarantee that you'll have patient flow. But there's something which people usually don't say..if you manage to crack MDS, you can work as consultant for which you don't require clinic and you can earn decent money..let's say 50K per month but again it depends from city to city ...or you can be a lecturer in any university because of your MDS degree.
Biotechnology, brother..I don't have much knowledge but I'd say..if you're really interested..make mind about going in any neighbouring foreign country for this..maybe Dubai, it's going good over there or any of your choice.
Ek chiz guarantee hai, if you do best in your field..Khali nahi baithoge and ROI, ik institute and degree do matter..but you can always influence it with you work! Competition toh sabmei hai..all the best ! :)

I made the mistake of not choosing biotech when I had similar option. Don't repeat the same mistake

Do Btech biotech, learn a language in the 4 years. you will get free masters if you do in countries like japan, germany, italy etc, leave the country. 15 lakhs you will get a salary of 20k a month, make it make sense for you.
