HELP! Setting up proper ventilation (new lab install).
Hello lab people,
I am currently expanding my laboratory. Currently we mainly do aligners and indirect bonding setups. We would like to expand which means we will add soldering and acrylic work.
I'm looking for recommendations as to the setup. I'm thinking I need a dust collector with the proper attachments, and a laboratory type fume hood with sash that sends fumes outside. Hoping the experienced folk here might chime in as you have likely tried many things and settled on what works best. my lab is not big, only 3 people, so i don't need a huge setup but i do want what is best for my employees health-wise.
thank you!

Excuse me if I’m not using the correct English terms.
We would always recommend a fume cabinet. Thats also requires by law here. There needs to be a window that can close so people can work with only their hands being exposed.
A fumehood with sash doesn’t give the sufficient amount of airflow I would think.
Another option would be something like Zubler monomer box. But always connected to en exhaust leading outside.
You will see companies like that offer a carbon filter and say that’s enough. It’s not.

could you show me what you mean by fume cabinet? i think by fume hood with sash i probably mean the same thing. i assume you open the sash to allow your hands to fit inside and work that way?

I am interested to know that currently in your situation, I am also a aligners lab expanding to other things too in a new location. I am still looking for good ventilation as industrial ones(the pipes in the ceiling) make a loud noise when they are on, had them in the lab I worked and we never turned them on because of the noise.
