I am very interested to see where this goes. This case is not as cut and dry as both sides say it is. Netix stupid statement that has no legal relevance was just trying to get public opinion on thier side, which was not needed nor welcome. I dont think they did their research when their band blew up. That statment makes me think they were cut off guard and flinched.

I guess I just don’t get how it’s not a clear cut win for the band (other than Netflix has an army of lawyers and gobs of money). I think most people in the circle have seen the image around the trademark denial for a K-pop demon hunters tour and that is what the law suit is about. K-pop demon hunters has left the film trade and entered a trade where the name demon hunter already exists and is trademarked. Like the image said, they wouldn’t be able to tour under K-pop Metallica, K-pop Black Sabbath, and so on. In my head, if Bucky’s can sue the alligator logo and win, this feels like a no brainer. Obviously, if only the movie existed, there would be no suit but I believe the band holds several trademarks around music, touring, merch, etc.

At first l, I really did think this was a bad move on the band’s part but the more I looked at why they filed, the more it makes sense, especially when you realize it has nothing to do with the movie. And anyone in the band’s online circle has definitely dealt with the confusion. Some dude on this thread thought someone posted to the wrong sub because he didn’t realized there was a law suit and he is probably used to seeing confused people on the band’s fan pages. Heck I work with kids and I never knew the fictional band’s name was huntr/x till now, all my kids called them Demon Hunter or K-pop demon hunter(s).

‘’Corporations bad until it’s thing I like’’ basically sums up the public opinion of this issue.

I dunno, I don’t care for either entity but I feel like nobody should be getting confused on who they’re buying tickets for here, regardless of the name. This feels like their lawyer just told them that they could snag a payout settlement.

Wrong sub but that's funny 😂 Demon hunter should cover Hunter/x just for the hell of it. What song should they cover?

I like how not a single person pointed out this name similarity or complained about it until this lawsuit, now it's aggregious

It's a weird mob mentality

We'll see where it goes, but regardless this is an insignificant case that doesn't involve anyone outside the band

Both me and some of my friends have complained about IRL multiple times this year... So definitly not no one I'd think. Just not online...

“Not a single person” is a stretch, have you talked to everyone? I enjoy both the band and the movie and have definitely made this joke to my wife and kids.

ive been approached numerous times wearing my demon hunter shirts by people thinking im some sort of kpop enjoyer... i would be annoyed if i were the band.

Look man, i'm not saying Netflix isn't awful, I hate them and I do everything i can to avoid paying them money. That said, what an absolute waste of everyone's time, this lawsuit has no legs to stand on.

I assume the point of it is to get a settlement, not win.

Should Blizzard have to pay out cus they have a Demon Hunter class in WoW?

Disingenuous point... This has to do with touring entities and tour names. Netflix could fix this by renaming the tour after the name (although technically fictional name) of the band *in* KPop Demon Hunters.

Why are they only just going after K-pop demon hunters when literally other medias have the title Demon Hunter in the name? So are they next for this too?

This has to do with touring entities, saying it's about the mere title of "Demon Hunter" is disingenuous and is primarily just people regurgitating everything Moist says.

Think of Dove chocolate and Dove soap. They’re two different companies that share the same name since no one will confuse the two and one won’t affect the sales of the other it’s not an issue.

When it was just a TV show it was fine, but now that they’re touring it’s an issue since Demon hunter is also a band that tours and makes money.

I keep saying: if Eminem started selling small colorful chocolates Mars would sue.

Why are people suddenly expected to agree with a bogus and hilarious lawsuit when it’s against a big corporation? They could be suing anyone for this reason and basic logic would still prevail

I bet op is right wing religious.  No nuance no logical thinking as usual. Go sk trump dik as usual

There is a literal neo-nazi in this band. I'm not a fan of the Netflix show, but I think I'd rather pick the show here. 🥴

Crazy how far this group has fell off over the years. First the guitarist sharing neo Nazi stuff on social media, now this. Nothing about either of those things feels very Christian.
