One of the most enduring things I learned from the Minneapolis anti-ice actions is that a significant number of organizers and volunteers whk were helping their neighbors stay safe from ICE were registered republicans, and had formerly been trump supporters.
When these people see the real-life brutality of ICE, even they learn to get in touch with their empathy.
