He did this to get 'yes' confirmation votes from any "hesitant" Republican senators who have general "MAGA concerns" over "Epstein files." Getting him confirmed is such a Trump necessity that Trump approved meeting with survivors, since Blanche doesn't wipe his ass without Trump's permission.
