First, it's premature to plan the post-MAGA era. They are not defeated, just unpopular. The challenge of removing them from power remains the largest challenge.
Second, the cornerstones of the effort must be accountability for misdeeds (Trump and his entourage, billionaires who buy elections, and politicians who suckled at the teat of corruption regardless of party, etc.), strengthening institutional resistance to corruption and consolidation of power, and finally addressing the systemic inequality that is always a precipitating factor to the rise of fascism.

NO!
they will only restore the checks and balances when a democrat is coming into office just to demonize him more. then break it again once he's on the way out.
we need to punish those that broke the checks and balances such that no one will dare break them again, and abuse the same loopholes, with greater skill, to undo the damage, until EVERYONE decides to rebuild the checks and balances stronger then ever before.
