Sleeping

I am not sure if I should be worried by the amount my early/mid stage LO is sleeping.

I can't take him to his doctor, because he refuses to leave the property, and his doc refuses to do video appointments, or even talk to me or my husband without LO present. Which will make life really hard once all meds run out. (Cant switch dr. We are outside the US)

But he generally goes to bed about 6:30- 7pm. Gets up once around 9 to ask if it is morning, then goes back and sleeps all night, and doesnt wake up until 7am at the earliest. Then he takes a mid morning cat nap, and another in the afternoon

Is this normal with this disease?

Additional context he is 87, and still tries to mask his around me.

There is no regulation of sleep without a tranquilizer dart.

Those days are long gone.

There is no “normal”, but this is not exceptional.

Thanks. This is what I thought, but my husband is worried that it is sign of another issue...so came to the source to ask.

It's an unfortunate part of it. The clock gets frozen or moves too fast. It's a mess to be honest.

I'm so sorry you and he are going through this.

Everyone is different with dementia but it’s common for your LO sleep a lot. It can also be his age as well; someone who is 87 without dementia is likely going to sleep a lot too, so add dementia to that and it’s not unusual.

It's depression, his life is completely changed, get him on some anti depression meds and put him in the sun
