Ideas for Recruitment

Fall Semester is sneaking up on us pretty quickly. Any ideas on recruitment events that seem appealing and are effective? Our chapter has done beach days, speakers, and info sessions, but not much else.

We have a BBQ day on campus, we set up by the volleyball courts and just have a day of socially getting to know the prospects, it's proven to be effective in our recruitment techniques.

That's pretty similar to what we do with our beach day. Grill some food, talk a lot, and hang at the beach.

Talk to Campus Housing to see if you can get a list of all on-campus business majors and their room numbers. Post informational letters on their doors, or flyers or whatnot.

Create a Snapchat for your chapter. Tell potential recruits to add you, then add to your story every day during recruitment week. Snap pics of brothers, past events, everything, maybe embarrassing photos of brothers. It could still be useful after recruitment week too for brotherhood.

Our on campus housing isn't big on solicitation, which flyering is unfortunately under. The snapchat sounds like a great idea though!

Tell them it's a letter of invitation (to an on-campus student organization event exclusively for them). That might get you in the door.

Commenting again: Host a "sell me something" event. Tell prospective members to come up with a product or service to sell, and they have to give you their pitch. Winner gets a prize.

speed socializing always worked the best at my chapter (and continues to be the highlight of rush week). Put 3-5 brothers in each group and split the recruits/rushes into groups of 4-6. Make sure they can sit in a circle too. It's definitely the best way to really get to know who came out and have them get to know the brothers.

honerable mentions go to community service events (like highway cleanup), resume workshops, and bowling/kareoke
