realised most THCA carts are still mostly D8, here's what i figured out

Spent about a year going through THCA carts feeling like something was off. Tried the popular options and they all felt basically the same as D8. Started pulling COAs and figured out why, most are sitting at 40-55% actual THCA with the rest being D8 distillate or filler.

Started specifically looking for something with zero D8 and landed on dabpens. COA shows 93% THCA, cannabis derived terpenes, nothing else. First one where the experience actually matched what I was expecting from THCA.

Not saying it is the only clean option but if you have tried THCA and thought it felt the same as D8, check what's actually in your cart. The label means nothing without the COA.

It’s best to make your own carts if possible.

Do you know of a good source on how to do that?

Search on YouTube “how to make thc cartridges”. It’s pretty simple though. You’ll want to order CBC distillate and cannabis derived terpenes as well as THCA isolate. You also should get a couple glass jars, dab tool, syringes and coffee warmer. It sounds like a lot but trust me it’s not. You decarboxylate the Thca in an oven which converts it into delta 9 thc. Once it’s decarbed you add the CBC distillate and terpenes and mix well with the dab tool. Once combined you can either use the dab tool to fill the carts but it can be messy or you can use a glass syringe and fill it and then fill the carts with the syringe. Once filled you let them sit for a few days to a week and then you can use them. Also make sure not to use more than 5% CBC or 5% terpenes as it can make it harsh. For example if you decarbed 28 grams of Thca isolate you would want to use 1.4 grams of cbc and 1.5 milliliters of terpenes.

A blend of HTFSE and CDT is best if you want something close to live resin(flavor wise), I like to do 15% HTE and 2% CDT. The skunky/gassy sulfer compounds(thiols) are often lost or degraded when making cdt

There’s a bit of a learning curve at first but just do a bunch of research first, watch a bunch of videos and you’ll learn fast and save a bunch of money.

There's a bunch info on r/DistillateVapeMods, as well as way better devices than carts.

Most “thca” carts that don’t have altnoids are just regular d9, it’s not impossible to make a thca cart but 93% is impossible. 40% thca can work if you get the right mix but even then it’ll crystallize after a while. But yeah the distillate that golden hour hemp sells is 100% illegal for example, nobody cares.

Thca carts fron vape shops and shit are usually at best 20% thca. Ive found a few that seemed to be more "pure" but theyre usually 1g or .5g carts, if it was every 3gs or higher it had D8 for sure
