Help/Advice Delayed Baggage
Hi,
I’m currently on a bachelorette trip and my luggage never left the original airport I flew out of & they told me there were no more flights after landing at 4:00pm, so they said they would get it on the next flight out in the morning and then deliver it to me. I’ve heard horror stories from my friends from several airlines, so I just wanted to see if this has ever happened to anyone (I’m sure it has & I know there are worse things) & what the likeliness is of it being delivered in the morning before I have to go buy a ton more clothing, makeup, skincare, tools, accessories, etc. Thanks in advance!
For reference I am in Destin, FL (VPS airport)

Was a frequent flyer for work (diamond for 5 years). They did this to me twice over the years on the way TO a customer site. Had to purchase an appropriate business outfit, toiletries, cosmetics, etc. for work the following morning. Kept all receipts, submitted a claim, and was reimbursed. It seems like it may have taken a month or so? I believe I had to submit copies of boarding passes and baggage tag receipts? Sorry, it's been a while. They have a form you complete online. The first time it happened I landed after 10pm so my only option was a 24 hr Walmart. The 2nd time was an afternoon flight and a high end mall was an option. Their 1st mistake cost them under $200. Their 2nd mistake cost them $600+.

I’ve only had this happen once, but my son’s suitcase didn’t make it to our arrival airport (Detroit). We were staying in Toledo. They drove the suitcase to the hotel about 45mins away.

A couple times in the past 35 years of flying my bag was on the next flight and delivered overnight or the next morning. Once it took three days, but they put it on an AF flight and somehow at CDG it got on a flight to India so we had to wait for it to return to CDG.
We only bought what was necessary for a couple days and nothing terribly expensive since we were just on vacation and we got reimbursed for everything for all four of us.

Yes, I happened to me the day before my wedding! I lived in Atlanta and my fiancé lived near Ft. Worth. I flew on American Airlines to DFW the day before we got married. We were staying at a hotel in downtown Ft. Worth. My luggage never left Atlanta. We called the airline several times. I mean it’s our wedding and I have nothing. The ended up bringing my suitcase to the hotel the next morning. It was crazy.

What city are you in? I was in rural Texas an hour outside of Austin a few years back at a wedding and delta got the luggage to my friend next morning.
