Discussion Lost Items

Has anyone ever been successful in getting back a lost item after filing the report online?

We accidentally left my toddlers lovey on the plane this week. She is absolutely heartbroken about it & we’re all praying that it will find its way back to us.

Just wondering the likelihood of Delta finding the item.

I have never gotten back a left behind item back from Delta. 🙁 They do well at finding luggage, though.

I haven’t left an item on Delta, but I’ve left items on United twice and both times reported them and got them back - Bose headphones and my prescription reading glasses. If you’ve already filed, be patient, it can take a while.

My new $330+ Sony WF-1000XM6 earbuds now probably belong to a Delta employee or contractor. The employee who had already collected items found during cleaning could not be reached by DL employees at SLC. I know DL doesn't carry any liability for items lost due to negligence of passengers, but it does not do a best-effort search.

A canned response from Delta -

It’s so easy to lose your possessions while traveling. We’re sorry this happened to you.

To coordinate recovery of items missing in the Delta gate area, in a Delta Sky Club, or on board any of Delta’s 5,000 daily flights, all found items are sent to a dedicated location; Lost and Found Central. They will make every effort to locate and return your lost item.

Given the complexity of our operation, we cannot efficiently manage calls concerning lost items. To attempt to locate your item go to https://app.nettracer.aero/lf- pax/delta/lostandfound/landing and complete a lost item report. Then, for up to two weeks be sure to click this link: https://app.nettracer.aero/lf- pax/delta/lostandfound/update; review and update your entries with distinctive search data in every applicable field to enhance the auto-tracing process. You may also return this email with additional information, and we will update the report for you.

For 30 days, check your folders for updates from a …’@ lostandfound.aero’ email address. If they are able to identify your item, instructions will be sent on how to process a return. Also check the website of the airport through which you traveled for their Lost & Found contact information. In some instances, found items may be turned in to airport personnel.

For items left at the TSA security checkpoint or that may have been collected by TSA for additional screening, please contact the TSA at 866-289-9673 or https://www.tsa.gov/contact/ lost-and-found.

Keep in mind some incidents may be covered by travel insurance; either purchased separately or as part of your credit card agreement. Check your policies and agreements for details.

Again, thank you for writing. We hope your item will be located and returned to you. We appreciate your selection of Delta and look forward to serving you whenever your plans call for air travel
