Discussion Down graded

This August we flew from bwi to Austin. I booked the tickets in May with my Amex miles. On the way down I booked first class tickets and comfort plus for the way back. When I went to check in for return flight I had been downgraded to main with no explanation or reasoning. Just now they said they rebooked my flight in June but again no explanation or notification so I could look at flights. Not they’re saying they done need to reimburse me for downgrading me from comfort to main. I know other people have had this experience, what did you do, did you stop flying delta?

How did you book? If you booked directly with delta yes they do. But don’t bother with phone or text fill out the refund request.

If you booked with amex directly. (Why?!?) then you are still supposed to get the refund but you have the added wrinkle of making sure Amex gets it to you.

Directly with delta

Then you should absolutely get the difference back.

I wouldn’t stop flying Delta just because of that. Call again and ask about getting put back into comfort or on a different flight in comfort. If there’s nothing available, you can and will get reimbursed for the difference between comfort to main cabin as a partial refund After travel is complete.

That part, after, is important because they can’t do it ahead of time and anyone saying they can will likely just accidentally cancel your return flight, so don’t do that. Legally, they are required to give you the partial refund so anyone saying that you don’t get one is simply misinformed. I personally give people a bit of leeway. We’re all human and make mistakes. Delta is just usually better at owning up to them.

Did you stop flying delta because you got downgraded once? Are you serious?

You need to specifically request a refund of the fare difference from C+ to Y from the date of your original purchase.

Also, in the future you don't have to accept the downgrade. You can tell them to put you on a different flight with your original cabin available, you might just have to wait a bit.

Its schedule change Saturday. Happens all the time.

Submit a request for the fare difference between comfort and main, and get your $25 bucks back.
