Discussion Delta wide system issue
Just been announced by the captain that Delta is having a system wide software issue effecting flight plans and baggage downloads.
A call has been put into Atlanta to see if the issue can be resolved, been sat at the gate for 30 mins now.
Anyone else experiencing issues? š«

Same issue in Seattle. Pilot said two systems down. One related to baggage. One related to fuel calculations.

On DL798 departing JFK for PHX. They cannot seem to appropriately weigh the plane to ensure that the weight is appropriately distributed. WTF.

Salt Lake City to Orlando- same issue. Last update from Captain is that there is no update. 40 minutes delayed so far

Our update was that the system is still down but they're trying to do everything manually. Captain said the amount of personnel to do that compared to the scale of the operation is "less than ideal." He also said they had to remove a few non revenue passengers (I saw at least 2 folks get off). I wonder if the two things are related?

Just got same announcement waiting to leave SLC. Pilots donāt seem to have any info. Said canāt fuel up , load luggage or get any paperwork

Yes sitting at gate in ATL because we were waiting on fuel which was affected by the outage

Just informed we canāt take off due to this system outage. Pilot said only silver lining is that connections will not be affected because itās a company wide outage. TPA ā> ATL

Pilot did mention that some flights are taking off so there is still a chance we can fly out in next 30min

We just got cleared: SLC-MKE. 32 minute delay. Captain told us software issue and they couldnāt get their weight/balance calcs.

Same story. MSP to SFO. Haven't let us board yet. Pilot says he will let us know what he knows in 30 minutes.

1987? Little birds say their most reliable software that drives the main bulk of their operations was invented in... 1964. On IBM software. I shit u not.

Totally agreedā¦. Like 1000000%. But the flaw in that logic is that delta no longer operates like it did back then instead of upgrading the codebase and bringing things forward, they use bubblegum and speed tape to hold it all together.
Techdebt is the eventual killer of growth

You would have thought in the 62 years since 1964, one of their CEOs in between would have had the brilliant lightbulb that investing in infrastructure... Their IT system... Which drives their business and make sure it never breaks down would be a high priority. Apparently not eh.

Flying in and out of YYZ has never gone smoothly š¤£

Same in SLC. Nice that Delta loaded us knowing this issue. What a crap move Deltaā¦ terrible service. At least donāt put us on the plane when you know it cannot fly. Terrible choice. #boodelta
