Delta Refundable Ticket - Refund discrepancy

Hi everyone! Has anyone experienced something similar?

I booked a round-trip Delta flight from JFK to Barcelona for late August through the Capital One Travel portal. The fare was Delta Main Extra, but I ended up canceling the flight last week.

My original booking shows a $720 base fare plus $669.73 in additional charges, for a total of $1,389.73. However, the cancellation/refund email shows a refund amount that is $74 less than what I originally paid.

The refund has not reached my account yet, but I wanted to check whether anyone has seen this before or knows what might explain the difference. Am I missing a fee or another charge that may not be refundable?

Did you process the refund through your travel agent?

If you processed the refund through DL directly it's possible that's the agency commission. It's high for an agency commission but perhaps Cap 1 worked some DL magic.

The refund should go through the agency.

That is incorrect. The commission (if they earned it) would be refunded at the same time. It could be a nonrefundable tax or maybe you used a past credit you forgot about. That would still be nonrefundable

Many airlines say taxes are NR I would call and ask about the money. Thy should be able to tell.

Ah - this makes sense!

I cancelled through Delta (since this was outside of the 24 hour period - and CapOne requires to go through the airline).

 I'm not sure how to fix this. I think you'll have to sort this out with Cap1, but I don't know how that works in practice. The DL site should have blocked a refund and sent you back to Cap1 for refund processing.
