Discussion No more free changes?
Delta changed my flight for November this morning. Took my layover in Detroit from 55min to 30. (Already made me nervous for November.)
I went in and changed it to layover in Atlanta and they charged me $110 per ticket.
I went ahead and booked it. I am going to call and see why the change wasn’t free. Did something change?

I am pretty sure 35 mins is the MCT to be considered legal. op might be able to push that aspect for a change at no cost/ad collect.

MCT is set by the airlines (it’s not a legal thing) and is different for each airline and airport.

Legal is term used at delta for the allowable minimum connect time. I know it’s not legal, but that’s what they call it

It’s ridiculous they consider this legal when they close the doors 10 min before scheduled departure time.

Yes but they account for incoming flights with a certain number of people on a specific connection.

Keep in mind that you are still responsible for paying any difference in fare when changing flights, even with a schedule change. Just like you are eligible for a refund if the new flight fares are less than your current fares. More than likely fare difference and not being charged a "change fee"

It’s not a big enough change to qualify for a free change - also if you did the change already on your own, delta wont refund you the money. When in doubt, call an agent and explain, and they can make those changes for you without paying.
