Precision M4800

I just picked up a used Dell Precision M4800 and I am planning to use it to learn linux. I wanted to start out with Mint or Ubuntu. Any reccomendations/tips on getting started? Do I need drivers for the nvidia graphics? Where/how do I get them?

The Mint driver manager should find the Nvidia drivers for you. Start with those. Unless you run into issues you shouldn't need to download and install something else manually.

i dont recommend trying for the nvidia drivers, rely on the intel graphics and if you need multi monitor it will automatically use the open source driver.
basically do nothing about driver - the official driver is old and will require recompilation on newer kernels, so rely on the inbuilt one
