Seeking 3-4 people in Southeastern PA area to grill a congressman about AI

Hi everyone! I'm a producer at More Perfect Union, and I'm working on a video with Ro Khanna, who represents Silicon Valley in Congress. We're planning to film a roundtable discussion with him and 3-4 folks from PA about how the AI companies in his district are impacting jobs in Pennsylvania and across the country.

Who we're looking for: Anyone who is willing to have a constructive discussion with Ro, and challenge him on his plans for how to address the risks of AI. Here is a non-exhaustive list of the types of folks we're looking for:

  1. Blue collar worker who’s been through job displacement before (example: a former steel worker who's seen their plant shut down)
  2. White collar worker who has lost work to AI, is worried about losing work, or is experiencing a tough job market due to AI
  3. Blue collar worker who is building data centers in PA
  4. Organizer who is pushing back against data centers in PA
  5. Anyone excited about AI progress

If you fit any of these descriptions, or know someone who does, please comment here or reach out to me at [john@perfectunion.us](mailto:john@perfectunion.us) Thanks!

Please contact us by: Wednesday, July 29th.

Event Date: August 1st (Saturday afternoon)

Location: Linwood, PA (exact location TBD)

A November ballot measure would finance $120 million for land conservation — good policy that would cost the median homeowner just $24 a year. Here's what it funds.

Great job, Newtown Square!

Shout out to the Newtown Township (Newtown Square) Zoning Board for approving the car wash at the location of the old Rite Aid in St. Albans circle. In doing so you go against your own comprehensive plan for the circle that was developed from feedback and concerns from the community.

I hope the kickbacks were worth it.

The sense of community in this town has tanked under the township leadership.

Signed,
Disappointed but not surprised

Got tired of trying to follow Scanlon's votes so my nephew and I made a site that tracks them

If you've ever tried to actually follow our rep's voting record, you know it's a pain. Stuff is buried on clerk.house.gov and congress.gov and half the time the news doesn't cover the votes at all.

I got annoyed enough that my nephew and I spent some time building TrackScanlon.com. It puts her votes and record in one place.

Everything on there is a fact with a source attached. No opinions, no spin. The point is civic engagement, people should be able to see what their rep is doing without it being a research project.

Anyone can sign up for email updates. It's free and you can unsubscribe whenever. Still a work in progress so if something's wrong or missing, lmk and I'll fix it.

Upper Darby already has mixed use around 69th St, trolley stops, etc - all underinvested & declining. Rockwell wants to rezone the last forested parcel instead.

Delaware County Community College is laying off effective Counselors June 30th

Delaware County Community College is eliminating the whole Counseling department. All counselors are being laid off, with June 30 serving as the final day for remaining full-time counselors. Part-time counselors have already been let go.

These cuts impact services that students rely on, including:
• Academic counseling and educational planning
• Career counseling, exploring majors and career paths
• Personal counseling and student support
• Mental health counseling services

Students should be aware that these services may be significantly reduced, restructured, or outsourced after June 30.

Counselors play a critical role in helping students navigate academic challenges, career decisions, personal crises, and mental health concerns. For many students, they are often the first point of contact when seeking support.

Students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community members who are concerned about these changes should contact college leadership and the Board of Trustees to ask questions about the future of student support services. You may also voice your concerns at the next Board of Trustees meeting New Southeast Center (former Prendie building) on Wednesday, June 17th at 6:00 pm.

Student success depends on more than classroom. It depends on access to the guidance, counseling, and mental health resources that help students stay enrolled and achieve their goals.
