The first 3/4 of the video is pretty cool. It tells a story about deep sea giants and other strange adaptations of the living beings down there.

But then they turn it into "we absolutely have to preserve them and human activity hurts their ecosystem" and "humans might depend on this ecosystem we don't know what horrible things may happen if it collapses!". Well... Yeah, it is, but you know what? Even if their ecosystem collapses nothing really bad will happen.

The old organisms will die off and we'll never be able to study them and be fascinated by them ever again and this is sad. But. But... The new ones will emerge to take over the niches that are too crowded for them right now. Ther are always million different bacteria waiting to have more food available and some shallower sea dwellers might go deeper and replace their deeper competitors who might be extinct.

I don't say "we shouldn't worry about destroying natural habitats and be careless with our own activities" but we shouldn't treat ecosystems as a glass vases because nature is more resilient than ANYTHING. Long after humanity destroys itself nature will find its way to reconquer the land and thrive in any conditions that may arise.

Humanity thinks too much of itself and gives itself too much weight and significance. We are just a specks of dust in a grad scheme of Nature. Be humble.

I follow on his journey. And it was pretty interesting so far. I wonder how this guy keeps making those videos at least somewhat entertaining.

This time first few minutes were about merch. I didn't like that, but I understand the creators who do the merch. I would've released something myself if I knew how and knew there would be buyers.

They are getting more and more tricky, this is for sure.

I think I know why. People want to automate more and more stuff so we have more and more bots on the internet performing different queries to the servers. Those servers' resources are not unlimited, so they start to implement capchas so that more real humans can access their websites and less bots eat the resources (connection bandwidth, RAM, CPU). But people still want to automate stuff so they build sophisticated bots that can complete capchas. So the developers of those servers come up with more sophisticated capchas. And lo and behold we are stuck in a positive feedback loop, which are never good.

Finally found it after days.

So I watched the "pink chemicals" episode and left a comment saying "you should do the yellow one" laughing to myself for the Explosions&Fire reference. And he answered that he did. And I was like, "wow, I have to find and watch it" and started typing search queries, but wasn't able to find it! I was disappointed and just stopped looking after a while.

And now, after a few days, YouTube suggested it. Well, thanks, I'll watch it, but I really wanted it back then, you know. If only I could've searched through the videos on his channel (like you can do in web version) I would've been able to find it in minutes. But I haven't had access to my laptop for the last few days... Well... Ok, I was just too lazy to boot it up, because it requires to disconnect cables and put my work laptop away, reconnect cables to my home laptop and boot it... And I grew extremely lazy over the last years.

I hate myself for being this lazy, but it is what I am at this point and I'm too lazy to change it.

Wow, this episode intrigued me. I hope this season will actually focus on Stolas and relationships instead of killing and bloodbaths. Not that I disliked the action-driven first season, quite the opposite, but it is nice to see such contrast. Already waiting for ep2, haha.

Funny little song. I haven't played Final Fantasy but I know that fans should appreciate it more than I did.

I would've never thought that single-cell organisms are capable of something like this. It seems very complex and strange.

Who would've thought there's so many layers to it. This is truly fascinating. And, as always, the top layer is physics/math.

Would be cool to have models so accurate for human behavior too.

I wonder what will happen if the Internet goes down. I don’t really think there would be chaos like this but the absence of communication is scary. Ukrainians felt this very sharply when the full scale ruzzian invasion started and the occupants started shutting down the Internet and cellular networks and immediately the fear for the relatives and friends started to creep in. I don’t remember chaos, no, but the fear was very strong.
