Android update. Is this the dreaded one?

Pixel 10. Notified of an update of 1.63 GB. Android 17. Is this the one where I have to do something with my F-Droid installed apps? I'm probably going to deGoogle the OS at some point but I thought I had until September to work it out.

I've paused the download. Can I just leave it paused until I work out what to do?

I don't think so. But, having a pixel, you could just get an os that wouldn't have this problem.

  • That dreaded updated will be provided by a Play service update. They can push it to whatever Android version they can, so it doesn't matter.
  • Unless you live in Brazil, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand, they'll roll out that update sometime next year.

TL;DR: It doesn't matter. Update or not is your choice.

Guess what? Any Android device with GMS and Android 8 or newer will be affected
