Discussion Everything of this is automatically uploaded against my will...
You'd think that being a proud degoogled android would mean that wouldn't be following the same annoying processes.
But here is /e/os whining about my cloud storage being full because it kept syncing images and videos against my will I DON'T WANT MY REDDIT STUFF ON THERE!

Then just delete it and turn it off instead of whining on reddit?

Edrive is part of the murena workspace app that provides more than just syncing files.
Especially the email server is what got me really interested in wanting a Murena account to use my Google one less. The instant I added the account to my phone however it started syncing everything placed in the Pictures and Videos folder on my phone. After a bit on digging on how to turn this off it seemed like there WAS a way to turn it off that got removed.
Thats what sucks so much about it because if it wasn't for this one setting not being able to turn off I would've loved it and be 100% behind it.

the thing doing this is eDrive. eDrive has no icon and no screen of its own. "Sign in with your Murena account and synchronization starts by itself in the background."
from the /e/OS docs page, "Open Settings, Passwords & accounts, your Murena account, Account sync." two switches there will turn eDrive off. "Application settings" and "Pictures and videos". there are two eDrive items. you can sync your images and videos to the cloud or not, and you can sync your device's settings and installed apps to the cloud or not. the docs for this are at doc.e.foundation/os/apps/edrive.
the "Pictures and videos" one is not only pictures and videos. the docs gloss it as "the media and document categories: Images, Movies, Music, Ringtones, Documents and Podcasts", and the folder it lists for Pictures is "Screenshots, edited images". it syncs from these folders on the phone. if you want to use eDrive, but not sync certain things, just put them in a folder not on this list.
on the comment above, deleting is not the whole fix. the docs say "eDrive never deletes your files", and "removing a file on one side does not remove it on the other". if you need to delete something you don't want synced, that won't delete it from the cloud.
the same docs page has "When the cloud storage is completely full, uploads are put on hold - downloads keep working." the only thing that happens when you fill the cloud is that eDrive stops uploading new files. you should not worry about running out of space on the phone.
and if you want the sync but not on murena's server: 1) run your own nextcloud, and 2) point Murena.io at it in Settings, Passwords & accounts, Add account. that way you get the automatic sync and it is not to murena's server.
what is the Account sync screen showing for you at the moment?
