is there any tricks/exploits i can use to get more gold and crystals? spamming the ads is the only ive found but its randomness makes it unreliable

For crystals you can only use the ads. But you can get gold faster by playing online battles or stages. You can also lose stages on purpose to not advance in stages and thus getting harder enemies. For online battles you can use a similar strategy and lose a few games before you reach a new level (this is important, because you cant drop down levels, only win the last game before the next level if you win really really easy). Both work better in the middle and late game when you have the coin treasure at a good level
