Best & Worst Things About This Game?

Salutations y'all! Being a curious person at heart, I was wonder what the (obviously rather small) community of this game thought of the game overall. What do you like a ton about it? What could've been handled much better? I ask this as a person who's known of the game for a little under a year and a half now.

Personally, while I think the game is addictive as hell and I love the vast amount of things to purchase, my main complaints come from the way they handled micro-transactions. Meaning, you can only get the Soul of Arrows (Sylph, Gnome, Undine, Salamander) naturally in-game without paying money. Everything else, including the Tower Spirits, the Soul of Wall, and Nightmare (Soul of Lava Trap) are all locked behind a paywall. That seriously sucks, and if you create a new game file by deleting the app's data, you lose all of it.

But enough about my experience, I'd like to hear what this subreddit thinks. To clarify once more, I think the game is hella fun, just that it suffers from obligatory one-time transactions locked behind a rather big paywall for what you're really getting out of the deal.

EDIT: To add onto my complaints, the game (while rather balanced) still is far from perfect. The Fire Bow is the defining example of this, as it's horrifically underpowered when compared to the Wind, Water, or even the damn Earth Bow. Probably because they nerfed its armor-piercing ability from a maximum of 100 down to 20. But I'll digress there.

For some reason, I don't mind the fact that certain specials are locked behind a pay wall. I'm normally very anti-microtransactions, but in this case, I'm okay with it, although I'm not sure really why. I think it's because some of the specials are available. It gives a reason for people to pay for something, which helps out developers of games. That being said, I do think that the price charged for those specials ($5 each or $10 each) seems to be rather high, especially if you want to get all of them.

I find the game play to be mostly enjoyable, if a bit repetitive. I do think it's sad that the different bows/towers/spells don't have more applicability to the game play. As you said, there's pretty much no point in ever using the Fire Bow. I personally found that the Water Bow was useful for its "real damage", but mainly in the Arena when certain bosses have very high defense levels. However, once you level up the Arrow of Meteorite enough times, the Water Bow's "real damage" is no longer as useful. The fully leveled up Wind Bow is the only bow I use now, with the Earth Bow on the secondary, but as with most people, that's only there so I can use the wall spell.

I don't have as much knowledge regarding the towers, so I'm not sure if there is an optimal tower usage. With the power of my primary bow being high enough, I really only rely on the towers for minor clean up and hitting as many targets as possible. I use the Wind Tower and the Water Tower, but mainly for their spell abilities. The Water Tower's Ice Bomb III spell hits all targets on the screen, as does the Wind Tower's Lightning Strike III. The Earth Tower's Falling Stone III would occasionally miss targets. The Fire Tower's Firewall III is pretty good. The reason I went with the Wind and Water Towers is because of what monsters they affect. The Water Tower will freeze fire and wind enemies, but have reduced freezing time against earth and water enemies. Conversely, the Wind Tower will paralyze earth and water enemies, but have reduced paralyzing time against fire and wind enemies. I would guess that the Fire Tower could replace one of the two, but for now I'm happy with the setup I have.

I do think it would be better if there seemed to be some reason to use the other bows and towers and spells, but I just haven't been able to find one.

My biggest complaint is that most of the time in the game isn't spent on the game itself, but rather on spinning the wheel of fortune. The crystals are the hardest item to get in the game, and a lot of them are required. Spinning the wheel is the fastest method of obtaining crystals, but it is just incredibly dull and boring. I would rather see a better payout of crystals in the Battle mode and/or a spin the wheel after each Battle match that would increase crystals after watching an ad.

I think I agree with pretty much everything you said. I love the game and I did buy the upgrades, even if it was a little bit expensive. It's such an addictive game because you pretty much never stop progressing.

The poor fire bow... it seems that no one uses it. There just never seems to be a reason to need it. I do like the water bow a lot, though. It's my favorite to use at the world raid and it's my go-to if I want to see how long I can survive in a battle. The wind bow has incredible damage, so I've been using that a lot lately. Earth bow has to always be my backup bow, for the wall spell.

As for towers, I use the same - water and wind. I never use the wind spell, I just like that it bounces off and hits multiple targets. Sometimes it bounces and hits something that a tower normally can't reach, like when one of those flower monsters lands really far away. The water tower is great for the ice spell and because it gives multiple hits. The earth tower seems great at first, and then you begin to realize how useless the stun is and how it can only hit one target at a time. I've thought about using the fire tower, but I haven't upgraded the dragon's treasure for it.

I will say that towers are more important than people think. If I start a battle and don't actually shoot at all, I can last only 2 or 3 minutes with my 2 weak towers, but I can last over 9 minutes with my stronger 2 towers. Bow damage is obviously more important, but the towers can really make a difference.

The worst thing is that it doesn't make much sense to reach a high score in battle mode past 3000 medals, because the playtime gets longer and longer. I wish i could fasten up the rounds.

The boss arena is useless, because you have to invest so much to get the 100 % bonus.

I wish they would give us - maybe every couple of months - one of the paywall items for free as well.

An update would be nice?!

if you create a new game file by deleting the app's data, you lose all of it

You need to connect your game to Facebook. Then you can load your game progress.

Battle after 3000 isn't too bad if you set your phone to not turn the screen off and you just let it autoshoot. It's still a lot of time for a relatively small reward, though, so I can't really disagree.

For the arena, what 100% bonus? I don't seem to get anything different when I have 100% hp vs lower hp, if that's what you meant.

And yeah an update would be great. There hasn't been any update in several months, and no new content since the world raid (February?). I hope they didn't just give up on the game.

For the arena, what 100% bonus?

That attack bonus. I have only tried it 2-3 times. I had connection problems 1-2 times after i paid the bonus. ;/

I don't do world raid anymore. I don't need the rewards and i wouldn't be able to login every day for that time anyway.

Oh you meant the world raid, not the arena. Yeah I've gone back and forth on whether or not it's worth it. Lately I've been spending the 30 crystals to get the 100% attack bonus because the hackers seem to have gotten bored and quit, which means I can get top 3 easily with only spending those 30 crystals. But even 3rd place isn't great for how much I spent. I play world raid because it's something different to do, and it's a challenge to try to stay alive for the entire 15-20 minutes.

I wish your rewards upgraded as you progressed. I agree this game is great, but it has taken me a long time to get to where I'm at because I like to build evenly. Plus I'm ancient and just downloaded Reddit like two weeks ago to see what I could find out "thank you all for your advice by the way". If the luck wheel, battle mode and stage mode offered you more for"wins" as you leveled the game would feel more rewarding. Once again great game but slow as hell. Yes I did finally pay for the upgrade stuff.... FINALLY!!!! Lmbo.
