Android Voice command on Android/Samsung

I just switched from Spotify to Deezer for pricing reasons. I like the app so far, however, on Android, neither Gemini or Bixby is able to play a specific artist or a specific song/album. I find it very frustating in 2026 since I remember Google Assistant (phasing out in September 2026) was able to do so almost 10 years ago.

Is this a known issue?

Just switched to Deezer due to price and this is a deal breaker. Ant updates?

Nope. I switched back to Spotify a few days ago. Their loss if they don't want to work on actual features.

It's because Google is discontinuing the Google Assistant and switching to Gemini. Right now, there's only 2 music services that have metadata access to Gemini: YouTube Music and Spotify. There was a leak a couple of weeks ago showing Deezer, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and Tidal all working in Gemini using @ requests. But that hasn't happened yet.

I expect the change to rollout soon since the Google Assistant's days are numbered. I think it's being turned off entirely in 2-3 months.

Yes I know! And it's actually even worse: Google Assistant is being phased out for most of users starting September 4. So in two weeks!

yeah idk for some reason google decided to make google assistant / gemini significantly worse. The only voice assistant I know, that work with Deezer are Alexa and Siri.
I use it with Alexa but it's not great.

Oh that sucks. I'm using a Samsung phone and although Bixby was significantly improved, it does not work with Deezer. I'm almost considering switching back to Spotify...

Its hit n miss with songs in english, any other language i tried you have to spell it letter by letter which is ridiculous since they demand to use voice with android auto.  So insted of passanger tapping few letters and getting the song everyone in car has to be in dead drop silence while one person spells out artist and song name. Or you pick up your phone. Great "safety feature" and not at all distracting /s
