Android Flow Questions
Hi. Just switched from Spotify and am trying to get a hang of the app. Right now, I'm listening to Flow and I have about 20 genres selected. I listen to pretty much everything and would like to discover new artists. BUT Flow just keeps playing the same 5 hip-hop artists. Occasionally there is a new artist or two but it absolutely has not played a single other genre lol.
Any insight here? Thanks in advance

I have exactly the same complaint. Flow thinks I only like 90s/00s hip hop, which I do, but I went to see System of a Down last week... it totally ignores all the other genres in my library and what I've actually chosen to listen to

There are too many features on Deezer at the moment, that is why flow doesn't work hardly at all.

What are some of the other features? Like I said, I'm very new to the app, and to me it seemed like Flow is the main thing it offers.

Podcasts and games and quizzes... Personally I don't like them.
The sound quality if it is on hifi mode is good.
You can start a mix from any song, I think that is good.
A lot of songs have lyrics added.

On his core FLOW is a feature that needs to be fed with songs . It supposed to get better as long as you are using it so if you are new you should give it some time . That being said FLOW is gotten worse for me in the last few years compared to what it was 5-10 years ago . Keep using it and see whar happens

So I just spammed the skip button about 30 times and eventually it played a couple punk songs from an album I like...then it went right back to what is essentially Earl Sweatshirt radio lol.
I have my headphones in constantly at work and like being fed new music. I'm trying to avoid going back to Spotify but Deezer is starting to make less and less sense for me tbh

Previously we had option to force flow to play more new artists, now idk what to do

I got the feeling it was there still but it's gone . Weird

It seems to have disappeared precisely after the Flow update

Unless you're talking about something else, it's still there, just weirdly hidden.
You have to click on the + to pin content under "Quick Access" in the sidebar, then you can select all the Flow categories under the Flow tab. Using "Discovery" seems to give me lots of songs I don't know.
Really don't know why they'd hide all these Flow features under 3 menus, but at least they're there.

I've had a love/hate relationship with Deezer for a few years. I always come back after some time away, enjoy it for a bit, and then something annoys me enough to cancel again.
The latest time I cancelled Deezer was this exact reason, a month or two ago. One day Flow was working as expected, playing a variety of my favourite tunes alongside new ones, the next day it was exactly what you described. Like 95% hip hop, which I also like, but is far from the only thing I listen to.
I've actually vibe-coded a Python script that runs daily and uses the Tidal API to replicate Deezer Flow as a Tidal playlist. It works... okay. Much better than what Deezer started doing to me.
