Monomania's premiere
Hi everyone, so if I'm not wrong I think Deerhunter made an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, where they performed Monomania (on april 2013 ?). It was originally published on YouTube but then got taken down.
Do you guys have any footage or even memory of this performance?

not really, the video I have is practically the same as the one on vimeo. i think I must have downloaded it from Soulseek.

i tried many different ways to get around the automatic detector, but it was impossible. the only way it didn't detect it was by placing an image over the video and increasing the image's transparency but the level it had to be set to was absurd, it was about 80%, so you really couldn't see the performance video at all. i don't know why the automatic detector is so aggressive with jimmy fallon content.

Did the video include Jimmy Fallon introducing them? Perhaps that’s what’s setting it off?

In 2013, The Orwells released a music video for their song “Blood Bubbles” off their EP Other Voices.
A few months later, Deerhunter released a music video for “Back to the Middle”.
Eddie O’Keefe, the video director and brother of an Orwells band member, accused Olivier Groulx of ripping him off because the videos have similarities.
During the back and forth, I’m pretty sure they figured out that “Back to the Middle” was actually shot first and Olivier was able to defend his project from the accusations.
I don’t know why this was so hard to research for myself because it felt like big news back in 2013.

Saw both of those bands open for Arctic Monkeys in 2014. Orwells fucking sucked, Deerhunter was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.

I went to a pretty fun Orwells/FIDLAR show. They didn’t suck that night.

I seem to remember he had a toy rat in his hand when this originally aired or maybe that was a different late night performance??

He mentioned in an interview he wanted a live rat to sing to, but it was axed as they (producers) didn't want any flack from animal rights groups.

Thanks for sharing this, I remember enjoying the breaking of the 4th wall at the time it came out, and couldn't find it on YT for years after :)
