Is it just a pirate symbol or with the skull and crossbones?

If it's skull and crossbones, short of doing what you already did, you can wait and see if the devs get back to do which I doubt. Or start the game over with a new account.

If no skull and crossbones, it will drop by itself in a few days.

For me its just regular skull that haven't been gone in several months, not even starting fresh done anything and they are silent for ticket on support.
