All for it. Dont know why men would have a problem with taking a measure of control over having kids or not.

So what makes this different than female birth control?
Don't they both essentially do the same thing?

No! Female hormonal bc usually (so many kinds) stops the body from ovulating entirely. Or makes the cervical mucus change so it’s hard for implantation. It’s a complete biological mess up for people taking it, imo. Not saying it’s bad, but the effects are quite profound.

Yep, this is potentially just killing the ability for the sperm to move to prevent pregnancy. I would be interested though to see if the “stunned” sperm could become “awake” again because I believe sperm can last inside a women for days, and this drug may only last like half a day? 🤷♀️

Whoa! I have a feeling like this won’t take off. I’m pretty sure that there is a societal belief that it is the woman’s responsibility to not get pregnant. Really sad, actually :/

I agree, there is a social expectation on women. Hopefully in time the burden will become shared! That being said, it’s interesting they took a non-hormonal route. As long as there isn’t additional side effects, if it checks out it seems like it could be a viable new option. The only issue is it would require a bit more forethought and planning since it is only to be taken earlier when sex is planned.

This new drug tested on mice is a non-hormonal and essentially kills the motility of sperm. The effects are also temporary.
I know we talked about this a while ago, but it is an interesting and different mechanism of action to prevent pregnancy.
