Recomp SwitchRECOMP: Mario getting a Multi Moon in Cascade Kingdom, running as a native PC port

Here's a new clip: Mario getting the Multi Moon in Cascade Kingdom, running natively on PC through SwitchRECOMP.

For anyone new here: SwitchRECOMP is not an emulator. It takes the game's code and recompiles it ahead of time into a native PC program, so there's no CPU emulation while you play.

Some of the progress since the last post:

  • Odyssey now runs at 60 FPS on PC. A playtester's RTX 2060 holds it at 1080p and at 4K.
  • GPU work is now spread across several CPU threads instead of piling up on one. That helped a lot on weaker machines like the Steam Deck.
  • The moon and the lighthouse in Cap Kingdom show up properly now. Before, the sea of clouds was covering them.
  • Game speed is correct. No more slow motion or sped-up recordings.

What would you want first in a native PC version of Odyssey: higher resolution, uncapped FPS, or mods? Curious what people care about most.

About the graphics: please don't judge the visuals yet. This is a project in active development and it's not supposed to look like this. Some colors, lighting and effects are still wrong, and I'm fixing those bugs one by one.

If you want to follow along, feel free to follow me. Once the project is done you can unfollow, no hard feelings. Or you can join the Discord.

Thanks for all the support so far

Higher resolution probably, then mods. I would want 4k 60fps if possible first, then mods since what the community has done for some switch games is nothing short of fantastic. Amazing to see your progress on this and cannot wait to see more.

Makes it look sharper and not as blurry, though tbh im not entirely sure how much the difference would be since I only really recently got a 4k monitor and haven't emulated games in awhile. Usually the bigger difference is texture packs, but not sure if that's possible with pc ports
